Actually, according to many studies, that’s about how much is recommended.
Studies show that people that take fish oil lose body fat without changing a thing to their diet or exercising.

If you feel better great but it's just a placebo.
Has good effects for heart health but does zero for sleep, energy, fat loss, etc.
But if you feel better there's nothing wrong with that.

This from a leading researcher of fish oil:
However, despite the fact it has a number of important health benefits, the idea that fish oil is some kind of magic bullet for weight loss is a myth. You can't just pop a few fish oil capsules and expect the fat to melt away without making changes to your diet and exercise program first.
Fish oil is good for you but to think you can just take this stuff and feel great and lose body fat is ludicrous. If it were that easy don't you think everyone would just take this stuff and be in great shape and feel energized??
Take the magic pill and shed pounds.

So you think pointing to a single cherry picked study provides incontrovertible evidence that you are right? ![]()
The truth is the majority of the studies out there support the theory that fish oil can promote fat loss. But hey, if you want to believe the minority of the studies and dismiss the majority of them, have at it. As for me (and most other people) I will look at the overall census and my own personal experience in deciding what is true and what is not. ![]()

I think you read too many "studies" put out by pharmaceutical companies who in the past have attacked fish ooil for curing depression. Im a manager of a healthfood store and i have numerous customers who have been treated w/ memory problem, depression, cognitive function using high doses of fish oil. If its a placebo, then its a damn good one.

I will just look at the fat asses that take fish oil regularly and conclude it's not a magic pill that will just get rid of fat without doing anything else.

Nothing compares to fish that is eaten. You're over doing it with pills.
Good luck though.![]()
Do you know how much fish you would have to eat to get 5000 mg ??? A lot more than taking a couple pills....

I don’t seem to recall anyone claiming that if you a fat ass and take fish oil, yet eat nothing but junk food and don’t work out you are going to see a noticeable difference. ![]()

Its kind of hard to get 5000mg from fish everyday. And even if I could, I don't think I would want to.

Do you really not see the difference between losing a little body fat and a fat ass losing enough to see a noticeable difference?
I was skeptical about fish oil so a few years ago I took it for a month and didn’t change anything about my diet or exercise routine and I lost 3 pounds. While that is fat loss, you aren’t going to notice that by just looking at someone. You do realize that, right?
I don’t think anyone is suggestion fish oil is a “magic pill.” However, numerous studies have shown that if taken properly, fish oil can promote fat loss. Not massive amounts of fat loss, but fat loss none the less.
