Oh my god.

Are you going to offer the noncombatants/civilians killed in the Pearl Harbor attack which has been estimated to be about 100 in total by every reliable source, as a counter to somehow even remotely justify to the number of civilians killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, who were the casualties of the only use of nuclear weapons in the history on warfare, which were estimated to be about 220,000-230,000?

220,000-230,000.

That's about 100 World Trade Center attacks. 100. In two fell swoops.

And this doesn't even remotely address the aftermath in which miles of infrastructure were destroyed or even were uninhabitable.

This doesn't even comment on the collateral damage of the bombs, that is, the widespread birth defects in the surrounding areas for decades thereafter.

Go google those birth defects if you are courageous enough to stomach it.

Stop attempting to justify single worst attack on a nation in the history of the world in any way because it was America that did the attacking. These were NUCLEAR WEAPONS. This is the worst and vile concoction of nativism and nationalism that Trump has spewed and you are more than willingly imbibing down to it down to its very last drop.

Learn to think for yourself.

Learn history.

Learn about attacks and the response to those attacks and debate them critically instead of resorting to a childish, "They attacked us so we attacked them" mindset.

Learn about the prequel to the bombs, that is, the firebombings of Tokyo where another 200,000 were killed. And those are almost solely civilians. 200,000. I throw out these numbers casually but the devastation is like NOTHING the world has ever seen.

What number do we need to reach before you agree the response was unjustified?

Or will even nuking the entire country be allowed by a warmonger as yourself?

We are talking about a tweet. But if you want to talk about the larger points associated with this war or any war, particularly the casualties, educate yourself...please. And if you are unwilling or unable to critically examine the war response of your own country, then you can go watch Fox News some more. This discussion isn't for you to partake in.

i gotta say this trump guy is a clown

he doesn't even control his own twitter account. some guy on his plane is controlling it!

in twenty years no child will be named donald.

instead of talking about issues like tax cuts, repealing obama care or national security instead he insults other people and uses 'textbook racsim' that just shows you that something is clearly wrong with him or the game is fixed and he is a major puppet.

wake up.

Uh, the Japanese attacked a military target and yes civilians died in the process.

The US attacked major cities, where people lived/worked/palyed. Twice. And firebombed them.

To amplify this, it is a little known fact the first bomb landed on...a Church.

And you reduce the two attacks to who CARED about how many were killed instead of the actual death toll post-attacks respectively, the two of which are so incomparable it's not even laughable, it's lunacy.

Let's not rewrite History.  Hiroshima and Nagasaki were Military Industrial cities and were both carefully selected to cripple the Japanese War Machine and limit actual civilian casualties.  One could argue a worker who is in a Military production factory is a legitimate target.

Not to mention the American soldiers on ships awaiting invasion orders.  The loss of American lives in taking the Japanese Mainland would have been staggering.

It was a high-stakes poker game and the Japanese folded.  They were told the next bombing would be Tokyo but they didn't know we only had the two bombs.

Additionaly Hiroshima and Nagasaki were carefully selected as densely populated cities to kill as many civilians as possible and test the weapons capability. Horrible but factual.
We didn't know which would work, uranium or plutonium or neither... so we dropped both.

Like ya said goose, japanese, both soldier and civilian absolutely positively would fight until the death, surrender was not an option.. They would run full force at Amercan troops with spears and consequently getting mowed down in a turkey shoot - emperor's instructions. We had to literally beg japanese soldiers to come out of island caves and be taken care of as pow. Instead they chose the flame thrower route. Of course we won't even bring up the women, children and babies plunging to their deaths in Saipan. Needless to say GI's were devastated watching them die.

Had we not dropped the bombs and invaded the mainland, the death toll would have been 3x that of Hiro and Naga. Hirohito was a psychopath. He didn't bother to sign surrender until 13 days after Hiroshima. Another 100k had to die before that sob would surrender.
Common knowledge to the older guys in covers.

My uncle was killed on Saipan.  He was a 19 yr old Marine.  Hit by a sniper in the neck and bled to death.  But not before he threw a grenade into a pillbox.  Japanese where dug in deep.  Like Search said, no surrender.

Sorry goose, that was horrible nightmare of a fight. Your uncle was a brave man that fought for our country against a very serious opponent. He's resting peacefully as a hero.

Obviously this was before I was born.  He was the oldest of eventually 9 kids on my Mom's side.  That grenade saved his entire platoon from being pinned.  But, I digress.

Guy named hitler did the same thing. Old, young, sick......grab a weapon or be shot during the final stand. Granny's were firing anti tank rounds at Allied tanks. No recoil.
The Japanese bamboo Spears followed suicide back packers running straight for American tank divisions.
Isis has been reading ww2 history.
