I got two jobs. Been at one 30 years and the other, 22 years.
Obviously they are good gigs but I actually applied for a different job last week cause it pays so damn good that I would give up the 22 year gig as trade.
I'll lose freedom, 4 weeks vacation a year and my very own office bathroom
but I'll gain 60K. Prolly won't get the gig but I sure as hell put my hat in the ring.
One thing for sure, It is far nicer to look for another job while employed, than when you are unemployed.![]()

Not a knock on you, but a librarian assistant making $41K per annum with all the perks? And people wonder why more and more European nations are undergoing financial instability.

I have come to the conclusion that I hate my job and my career - I am an accountant so maybe its this time of year; tax time and I am working 60-80 hrs a week for good not great pay.
I have put a lot of work into my career and acheiving my certification (some people dream for this), but i really despise the work i do, it is very mind-numbing and tedious and i dont think my mind is wired for it. Plus, I hate being in an office all day and I need to find something where I am out and about. I have learned a lot which I will always value, I just have to determine a different way to put my knowledge to use.
I want to open my own business, I just have to determine what type and get my financing toghter and then I plan on working on my business and get it up and running while I am still collecting a paycheck and slowly transition into my new business. Anyone have any experience with this?

41K is not a whole lot, but for a librarian assistant it is (at least here in the states it is). By the way, do you use the dewey decimal system there?

What I hate about my boss is that he travels an obscene amount and thinks I need to do the same, even if it's not totally necessary. He is the kind of guy that would miss his son's wedding for an "important" sales call. I just value time with my family too much to be like him. I don't care how big his house or what kind of car he drives or what private golf course he belongs to. You only get one chance at life, unless you are hindu.

41K for a library assistant would only work in socialistic high taxed countries. That's ludacris money, IMO, but more power to you if they are willing to pay you that much.

Ive been doing carpentry for the past year an I gotta say it has really grown on me. I actually care about what I'm doing and want the end product to look as good as humanly possible.
