Cincinnati police force/mayor calling it murder. If convicted, former officer Ray Tensing faces life in prison.
I wonder what the headlines would be, if any, had Tensing not been wearing a body cam?

with no video, it would have been self defense and paid administrative leave.
they indicted him very quickly. times are definitely changing, at least in some places.

I don't see how any police force in this country could not or would not utilize these body cams. For both sides sake, this takes probably 90% of the guesswork and reconstruction of the course of events out of it. You get the scientific proof of what exactly happened and why it happened FOR THE MAJORITY PART.
And for this cops sleezeball lawyer to say that he felt in danger because the man was starting his vehicle is assinine in itself. I mean I've watched 1000s of World's Wildest Police Chases' episodes and I've never ever seen a perp shot in the head when actually speeding off during the traffic stop. And with no weapon to show for in this case either? My God this cop just f**ked his life up with one grisly decision. Good riddance.

The video leaves very little to the imagination. It is what it is. Very sad
I would like to hear what the cop would say as to what he was thinking... it is not his first stop. Something made him decide to draw and shoot. I just cannot understand what. The fact that this guy is indicted tells me there was no there there.

Although Tensing works for UC and the stop occurred about a half-mile from campus, the university's officers are permitted to patrol in areas where many students live off campus.
This guy's not even a fukking real cop! He's fukking Paul Blart:Campus P.D.!!
Why the hell does he have a gun?!?!
Why is he even making a traffic stop for "No front license plate"?!?!
No "paid leave" B.S., no,this guy needs to be made an example of life in prison AT LEAST!!!!!

How did this guy make a $1m bail?
He puts down 10%, $100,000, and the bondsman puts up the other 90%?
Is that how it works?
IDK anything about the bonding process that's why I'm asking.
Crazy that somebody being charged with murder can even make bail.

this guy is a university cop and from what i read, this incident didn't even happen on the university campus. what kind of clown pulls people over for a license plate violation out of his jurisdiction?

yes, if you have a $1 million dollar bond and you want to bond out, you have two choices. pay the $1 in cash or go to a bonding company. generally, bonding companies will take a 10% fee (although sometimes more, sometimes less) and then the bonding company "puts up" the rest. however, sometimes bonding companies will let you pay that 10% in installments.

if you are asking if a defendant owes the full amount if he is found guilty once the case is over, the answer is no.
whether a defendant is guilty or not guilty is irrelevant to the bond. the bond is security to make sure the defendant comes to court when he is supposed to. so, guilty or not guilty, as long as you show up when you are supposed to, you get the bond back, or the bonding company does not have to pay the remaining 90% if you used a bonding company.
on the other hand, whether guilty or not guilty, if you take off and skip court, you might lose the bond if you put it up, or the bonding company might have to pay the remaining 90% if you used a bonding company, although there are ways to deal with that as well.

This question being asked at all explains a lot.

When he started the engine to take off, besides shooting him, the cop had two options. Should he have...
A. Just said "Oh well" and let him leave?
or
B. Get in a high speed chase?
Also, you got to give it to the cop. For randomly pulling someone over, he just happened to pick someone with no license and a laundry list of crimes.

Deters, a UC graduate, said the city of Cincinnati should take over campus patrols and the UC police force should be disbanded."They're not cops," he said of UC police. "Being a police officer shouldn't be the role of this university."
Or........ Option........
C. Should this guy have never been in this situation to begin with, because he's NOT A FUKKING COP!!!!! No front fukking license plate and you execute the guy? We all saw the video, there was no "threat of being run over" - he shoots the guy almost before he puts the car in gear. No real cop would have just fired his gun into the car like that, that's not proper procedure.
It's not even a black/white thing. It's a straight up murder caught on camera.
If I was the deceased's family, I would sue UC for every Goddamn penny I could get out of them......

The kind of clown that becomes a university cop. NOTHING worse than people like these guys.... If they aren't real cops, why do they have real guns? They have tasers, sprays and night sticks only.

I'll concede it was an uncalled for stop.
After he made the bad stop and the guy started the engine, then what should he have done?

those aren't the only two options.
another option is to chase him and call for backup. despite what you might see on tv, most chases are not high speed chases and after short chase or once a couple of cops get involved, people stop. or, if it does turn into a high speed chase, another option would be to let the guy go and just hope that society survives from letting a guy who drives without a license plate back into the world without the cop giving him the ticket he would received had the cop caught him.

Exactly what you would see in Paul Blart:Mall Cop. He should of had a whistle, a radio and a phone to call 911, and at the very MOST, some pepper spray.
1. Blow the whistle
2. Spray the mace
If that didn't work
3. Radio in for the REAL & TRAINED OFFICERS to detain this guy.
Like I said, anything beyond that is not this guy's call.....

That's it right there. Just watch one episode of World's Wildest Police Chase's. If the perp decides to speed off, the trooper immediately races back to his vehicle to radio for backup and the chase begins. At the VERY WORST, the officer wrestles the perp out of the car and detains. OR at very, very worst, you f**king taser the guy if you feel as if your life is in danger.
And in most cases anyway, like Club said, these chases do not get very far, if at all.
There's absolutely no call to even have that gun in the guy's face. Cop is f**ked. He's 100% wrong here. Keys in ignition or not, guy was clearly unarmed. You don't blast a dude in the forehead for trying to speed off. Dude is boned.
