You will now be high risk and looking at min. 500-700 a month. At least that is what you would be looking at here in canada under the same insurance companies...All-State, State Farm, Belair

Got a DUI early last year. Yeah I know I am a dumb ass.

Shop around, I had a perfect driving record before. Never had an accident and no tickets in over 10. I ended up going to Progressive.

I insure 3 cars, 2 of mine and one for my daughter. It was still cheaper insuring me than putting it in my 19 year old daughters name.

Ended up increasing by about 50%. I was expecting double so while not happy with it, better than I thought it would be.

IN GEORGIA YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOMETHING CALLED SR22 INSURANCE. THAT'S WHERE YOU APPLY TO THE STATE FOR INSURANCE AND THEY ASSIGN YOU A COMPANY. NO INS. COMPANY WANTS YOU AND THE STATE MAKES THEM TAKE YOU. MY SON HAD TWO TICKETS AT 19 YEARS OLD AND HIS INSURANCE WAS $3600 FOR SIX MONTHS ON A TWO YEAR OLD PICKUP TRUCK. YOU ARE PRETTY MUCH FUCKED IF YOU HAVE TO HAVE FULL COVERAGE.

Extra 30 dollars a month for sr-22 insurance.  Just know an insurance company salesman, he will take care of it

i'm 26. i got a dui in pa when i was 24. got insurance a year later at 25 through infinity insurance for $150 a month. this year (my second year under same insurance) i only pay $110 a month. just shop around, just because you have a dui doesn't mean you will be paying a ton. you will prob have to pay more just because you are a little younger but these people are crazy saying $500 a month, thats absurd

Dude, just go up to the hood and get a cheap liability state required policy just to show the cops if you get pulled over.

exactly. My buddy who owns his own outlet has his place in frankfort, philly. its the ghetto of all ghettos, he wears a piece to work everyday. he deals with mostly poor people from the city who get the bear minimum. thats your best bet. just dont get into an accident cause not much will be covered, but your monthly payments will be cheaper

Well said, these guys don't know what they are talking about.  I've had 2 and pay $110/month.

Who's your carrier? What's the coverage? 6months at a time or a full years worth?

I live in California, got a DUI 3 yrs ago and it just came off my record.  At the time of my DUI I was paying $1357/yr with AAA for 300k/100k with medical and property, overall pretty good coverage.  When my renewal came up with DUI on my record about 6-8 months after the new quote was somewhere in the ballpark of $4k/yr - The agent said it's fairly common for your rate to triple after a DUI.  I ended up switching to Geico and lowering my coverage, now currently paying only $2400/yr and hopefully when Feb rolls around I will get a much better rate since my 3yr driving probation will have expired.  Keep in mind this is California also.  Good luck, don't be stupid again.

    Car insurance is outrageous.

I only got 1 speeding ticket, never had an accident and when I got a new car in 2012 I was paying almost 200$ a month. Give me a break.

Atleast its down to about 100$ a month and will go down again in a few months when I'm 25.

Bottom line, if you have a dui and drive a newer car. Expect to pay out the ASSSS

This is a good PSA to not drink and drive.

Invincibility syndrome for the 20-25 year olds at it's finest.

I love how people on a gambling board are high and mighty and act like they have not driven a car after having even just one drink or broke the law at all, they just haven't been caught.  In any event, my best friend got a dui (california) and he found an insurance company in San Francisco, paid 300 for the year (liability only).  I now use the same insurance because they are so cheap.  He was 25 at the time of his dui.
