Well, you are one of five people that are active in the Investments forum so you probably know that I've been big on Gold.

It's a pretty sweet day for me.  Healthcare and High Yield Bonds will take a little hit for me, but nothing compared to what I will make today come closing time.

Politicians grossly under estimate the will of the people. Most people I know are very unselfish, but they're tired of giving to those who never give back.

More opportunity will come...   It's not as though the Global Economy was hitting on all cylinders before this event.  Quite the contrary.

I feel sad for all the young people 72% of the 18-24 y.o. voted "remain".
The long-term effects of Brexit will not be felt by those who overwhelmingly voted for it. Because they will be dead.

The young generation will not enjoy the free movement to 27 different countries and the workers’ rights.

I don't think the English (not the Scottish) are totally aware of what they have done.
The UK will topple - Scotland will leave, maybe N. Ireland too.
This is not the end of the EU - it's the end of Great Britain (will be Little England).

It has been an eye-opener for many people across the EU. I am a sceptic but leaving the EU would be a disaster. And please, darn off with the immidiate results of the market. This is long-term.

He doesn't want to push the §50 leave button. Nothing's actually happened - won't until a new Prime Minister pushes the button.

Free movement in the EU is not about money. No more studying in other countries, living in sunny Spain on your pension etc.
It's estimated that 2 million Brits living in the EU will have to go home - most of them pensioners who will be a massive burden on the NHS - old people are more likely to get ill..
And then you have the 3 million tax paying people from the EU living in the UK who will have to leave too..
Long-term this is a disaster for Little England.

    Danelaw,

I think you are way off in your conclusions. I dont see how the other countries would shun the UK in the way you are suggesting, it makes no economic sense and it isnt like the UK is communist now and will start isolating themselves from everyone else.

To me the only real change is that the UK will work directly with the other countries and form understandings and alliances, and they will not be tied down financially to the EU and forced to support the mandates of the EU.

I see this is a large large positive for the UK once the change is finished, the UK to me is in the top 2 for economic strength to the EU so if ANYTHING, the EU took it in the chops with this, not vice versa.

If you look at the moves in the two currencies you will see that the markets started understanding this yesterday...the GBP was relatively stronger through the day than the EU was, and the UK stock markets were much stronger than other EU markets.

Come on now, you are leaving out the over 8 billion pounds/yr just in net EU membership fees saved by exiting

And sure the EU workers pay taxes but overall it is money moving out of the UK isn't it?

Word today out of England is that the folks are having 2nd thoughts.  A 2nd referendum ?   I find it ironic that the decision to leave the EU was made on a simple majority.  Did anybody think within the UK that a firm majority should be needed to leave the EU (looking at you Cameron).

Actually, I think his poorly conceived plan to leave to the citizens of the England reached its objective.

Conclusion ; I don't think the great majority of English Citizens have grasped the gravity of their decision.

They are breaking away from a consensus that was conceived shortly after WWII.
    Think about that.....................

Just to clarify on the above, I think the flaw in the decision is that a "firm" majority was not needed.. Only a simple majority.

Only > 50%   .. . That is preposterous on such a monumental decision such as this.  I  think Cameron is realizing the flaw in the genesis of this decision.
