Bob Costas and gun control
So Tree, which chance do you think is greater, them having an accident like these three cops I have shown or having the cool to pull a gun at the age of 12 line someone up , make a decision to end that persons life and pull the trigger?
Some very excellent points Crash - I couldn't agree more.
In no way, shape or form is having a gun accessible to a child safe.
In the case of an intruder, they will more than likely be overwhelmed by the situation. More than likely, they're either gonna not fire at all or miss the intruder altogether. You could end up with an intruder who initially may not have been armed but is now very pissed and holding your own damn gun and your kids life in his hands.
The other point you make is what really sticks out to me. A co-worker and friend of mine had to deal with this same very situation. His teenage son came home after his girlfriend broke up with him. His mom found him in his bedroom with their shotgun under his chin. She yelled and just as my friend got to the bedroom, he pulled the trigger. Try living with the picture of your own kid's brains blown out right in front of you for the rest of your life. Kids do not comprehend the finality of their decisions.
Guns have no place in a family home.

Crash has ZERO studies to back up any of his claims. He just posts anecdotes (you could even more about successful use of a gun for self-defense). He's sort of like a woman that way, very emotional.

If you shoot yourself with a gun by accident, you probably deserve to die and if a kid shoots himself in a home its the parents fault for being stupid and not locking gun away.
Guns are cool.![]()

Everyone should have the right to do what they want! Get the government out of our f-ing business. We pay taxes and obide by the laws, so this propaganda stuff is really annoying. So many ways for someone to die...People pull the trigger, not the gun pulling it's own trigger. With the way things seem to be headed, I would feel a lot safer knowing that all the good people that own guns legally would be around in case things get crazy.
This is more about having freedoms in this country than whether a person should own a gun in my opinion. ![]()

Also cops have Glocks, guns with no safety. I do not own a Glock for this reason, and was taught when I was younger in proper gun safety. I dont think cops should have Glocks for this reason.

You guys should look up all the home intruders that have been shot... 2 In Oklahoma in the past week

Multiples in Texas as well. Living in LA now, I HATE the fact that I am unable to get a concealed carry license. It's not banned, but nearly impossible to get due to Gang Violence influencing local laws. Thus, the law abiding citizens are endangered by the criminals who will get weapons by any means necessary. If you REALLY want to curb gun violence, ban them completely and put a lengthy sentence for possession of one. Problem is, prisons are already heavily overcrowded and costing taxpayers millions so what is the real solution? Seems like a double edged sword no matter how you look at it; it only makes sense that you give people the right to protect themselves.
As for Costas... How can someone speak in absolutes when discussing a hypothetical, "if Belcher did NOT have a gun, it would NOT have occurred." No one should have to remind Bob of the countless murders/suicides that take place every second by an infinite number of means not including guns. Should people throw out their kitchen knives because they too could escalate a situation? Hardly.

Bob Costas is a piece of sh*t for bringing it up during the game and for bringing it up period. It's easy to blame the gun instead of the person responsible.

Tree that is cool but read the article on the cop shooting himself, if a cop can do it, then could a 12 year old?
And this naive ignorance that people like Bob Costas has really bothers me. To actually believe that banning guns would get rid of them is borderline retarded. If anything it would only make crime worse as the scarcity of guns would drive people to only kill over them for the illegal gun trade it would create. Look at the crime that stopped once Prohibition was ended. Look at the crime we have over drug trade right now. Marijuana is illegal correct? How hard is it to get a hold if you really want it? Man people scare me..........and they don't even need a gun to do so

Fact: The United States has less than 5 percent of the world's population. But it has almost a quarter of the world's prisoners.
Fact: The United States has, for instance, 2.3 million criminals behind bars, more than any other nation, according to data maintained by the International Center for Prison Studies at King's College London.
Fact: China, which is four times more populous than the United States, is a distant second, with 1.6 million people in prison.
Now, considering those three facts, do you really want the people of the United States to be unarmed? Especially when you consider this country was founded on government oppression?
