One of my favorite posters of all time, ApacheM, passed away much too soon.
For those who never met him online, well, what a combo plate this guy was!
He would post the funniest and corniest of jokes (hey, they can't all be winners) and must have been a pretty good cook, as he also posted quite a few recipes (again, they can't all be winners).
He was a former Marine (I'd like to think he might have flown an Apache helicopter), loved his wife and family, and his country. He had so much common sense, you'd say it was uncommon.
He never forced or discussed religion much, and felt a spiritual kinship with the Native American Indian, possibly another reason for his handle.......
He was honest enough to tell us that his wife, Judy, was ill, and how much he loved her. I PM'd him, and we shared many emails. Marines never do anything half-*ssed, and if his mission was to love someone so much.............mission accomplished.
His wife pulled through, and then it was his turn to get sick. Cancer took one of his legs at the VA, but it wasn't enough...........
His son, Clay, finally had to post of his passing..........
I kept his avatar going for a while, and then thought that I should pass it to others for a while, so the the spirit of ApacheM would never leave the board. I asked a couple of people, but when Veterans Day passed, it kind of got to me.
So, I asked another aviary-related poster to carry the torch for a little while.....................I hope those of you that remember him fondly will enjoy a brief memory/chuckle.............
