I gave up the usual coffee about 8 years ago and have stuck to decaf ever since. It was on doctors orders as I used to get panic attacks and coffee is apparently one of the triggers....it worked for me, cut my heart rate right down. If I have a 'normal' coffee now I can physically feel the effects, especially the racing heart. It also tastes like syrup to me now, I'd never change back to the real stuff.
Apparently it takes about 6 cups of decaf to equal 1 standard coffee. Cant lose really.

3 cups decaf = 1 cup regular coffee!

I generally do not take your threads seriously but just in case you really do want some input on how to overcome this problem, here's what works for me.
I grew up drinking coffee with chicory such as Luzianne,French Market,or Cafe' DuMonde. It tastes stronger than regular coffee but it has half the caffeine and the chicory is a natural stomach soother. The problem is if you don't live in Louisiana you are not gonna' be able to buy it already brewed.
Buy a cheap coffee maker and a large thermos and brew a pot in the morning and take the rest with you.Your stomach will feel better and you'll save $190.00 a month.
Great advice, but I'm from the Boston area - actually live close to where Donny and Mark Walhberg grew up.
I'll see if I can find it in the stores.

I havent tried the decaf yet. Not sure if it will be potent enough. Good idea though...it's worth a shot.

I just started drinking coffee a few years ago. I'm now up to 5-6 coffees a day - and by end of the day I feel like shit because of it. Gives me crazy heart burn during the night.
I've tried 5 times over the last year to quit and I just can't. I am unable to drive by a Dunkin Donuts without pulling in for an extra large java....I spend close to $200 monthy on coffee. Never thought anyone could become addicted to this crap but I have. I'm friggin addicted to it like heroin.....can't go more than 4 hours without a cup. The only nights I dont think about it is when i'm into the booze.
Have any of you guys been able to beat the coffee addiction? If you have, toss some tips my way. I need to beat this.
check out this post.. you have Stimulant addiction..

I'm really not goig to read a 40 post thread about coffee, so I didn't.
Why do you need to stop? in my 20s through my late 30s sold stocks and financial products. Made your 5-6 cups a day seem like eye droppers.
You'll have a life change that will come and it'll stop. Enjoy you're coffee and stop being a wimp about it. You'll stop eventually...at least the amounts..............
Shit dude, unless you are around a Starbucks that's full of lesbos, the girls are usually cute...
When I was a stockbroker, it was back when you could smoke in offices. I didn't. I just circled the coffee pot. Had my chair with a 20 ft extension , so that I could get to the coffee in case some turd farming sod buster had me on the phone too long.

Limit yourself to two large cups daily, preferably before 2 PM. Three, max. Then drink WATER, if you get off on those caffeine soft drinks you will not be helping yourself. Water helps your digestion, A LOT. Man up, do it. I quit smoking cold turkey, you can limit your coffee. I still drink 2-3 cups a day, usually early. Never tried to quit coffee but it bothers my digestion and sleep if I drink it later than 4 PM. Good luck.
