The Residenz is quite the tourist stop, make sure you stop there and the Hofbrauhaus as well for huge homemade pretzels and litres of Lowenbrau and Spaten

If you're into cars, I definitely recommend the BMW Building and Museum. Beemers old and new, plus everything you ever wanted to know about the auto manafacturer is there - a real cool place.
English Garden. Great place but be aware of fat balding nude Germans sunbathing around. Your eyes will thank you later. Those Germans love being in the nude there. It's a cultue thing, or so I was told. Nude people riding around on bikes throughout the park.
Check out Dachau Concentration Camp for a sober reminder of the human cruelty that took place during WWII. As I recall it's about an hours drive south of Munich.
Plenty of nice cafes and bars at Schwabing (sp?) when I was there many years ago. Predominantly the young crowds like university students hang out around the area. Pretty cool and relaxing place.
All in all, I had a great time there. It's too bad the USD has sunk so low against the EURO that a trip to Europe will cost an arm and a leg these days.
Have a great time!

There is a plaza downtown. I believe Christinaplatz is the name. If I am remembering the correct city, they have a glockenspiel you can watch as you are sipping suds in the plaza.
The Hofbrauhaus is right down the street from there. Wander around and take in all the sites. I was at a meat market where a dog walked into the shop and they gave it a wiener, just like in a cartoon.
The subway in Munich is a pretty cool adventure too.

Drive to the black forest. There is a resort that makes cuckoo clocks, has a waterfall, an old train bridge, a monastary with skeletons in the basement, etc.

I have been there 6 or 7 times and I just love it.
First, spend time in the Marianplatz and watch the Dance of the Glockenspiel. Really great stuff. Lots of history in the Platz.he entire area is alive.
GO to the Haxenbauer for the pork shank in Old Munich. Really cool place and very old restaurant. The Ratskellar and Augustiner off of the Marian Platz are also very good place to eat.
Of course, you must go to the Hofbrauhaus. It's a hoot.
There is a lot to do, but if you get bored, hop on the train and go abougt an hour and a half to Strasberg Austria and visit the Mozart house....real good stuff.
Finally, you must visit Dachau, the Nazi concnetration camp. It might have been the most moving experience of my life.

Yeah Dachau was creepy. I was there with my old roomate and he's Jewish. They were closing up and didn't know we were still in the camp and locked us in. Of course I had to bust his balls that they locked us in because he was a person
