Question

you walk into langley federal to cash a check of $2500 from a canadian bank. smh.. ive never been questioned so much " wheres it from, whats it for, what is this " i froze and told her i won it from poker and thats the site. then she has to give it to head teller and they cant verify it right away so i gotta wait 7-10 days for it to clear? is this normal?? anyway i can go without this embarrasment, like maybe a wire is better?

never say its from poker.Always say." The money is from a large online service provider, and the funds were sent to me at my request."Also, don&#x27;t cash the check, deposit into your bank account, will cut down on a lot of the awkwardness

Earthwake is right don&#x27;t ever tell them the truth about an online gambling check. What I do is deposit it in my savings account that I opened for my gambling stuff. Find a bank that lets you have a small savings account without fees and deposit any checks into the account. Most tellers won&#x27;t ask you anything if your depositing the check. Also, never and I mean never use a check cashing service. Also, if you can find a Credit Union I would join one because they want all the money they can get and usually won&#x27;t ask questions about cash deposits unless it over the 10K amount and they won&#x27;t ask you about checks you received from online books.

I use a credit union for those types of checks and they seem to ask 50% of the time what it's for and who from when it is on a Canadian or foreign bank. I give them the same answer every time. I invested money in my college roomates business and it is a portion of my dividends.

I never cash, always deposit. Sometimes they put a hold and sometimes they don't. I was shocked once when I got a call from the branch manager saying business must not be to good when 5 dimes bounced 2 checks within a week.

You guys seem to need a reminder that you're the customer, and without your money they aren't a bank.

Tell them it's none of their damn business and then find a new bank. If my bank ever said anything other than "Is there anything else we can help you with, Mr. Teriaki?" I'd speak with a manager and tell them why I'm closing my account.
