Whenever I do fly's (dumbell or cable) my shoulders seem to be getting the most work, and get burnt out the quickest.  Doesn't seem to be doing much for my chest, am I doing them wrong or is this a common thing?

That's why I like to go the gym and do flys, flys, flys, and flys and then come back here and talk about them !!!

Been flying 40s lately, high reps....

20 reps, three or four sets.

    Not even feeling it.

Thinking about hitting some 50 flys.

Defeats the purpose but shrimp digs Flys !!!!

Have not touched a decline in ten years, been dipping a lot though, is that good enough?

And yes, I cannot go three days without an incline.

Forget the rack, found a machine that focuses on the incline

My trainer is a high rep maniac so I gotta pre train just to meet the weekly fucking trainer.

Pre Maniac trainer everything was sets of 10-12 but now he wants everything in sets of 20+

Muscle here is growing unexplainably according to old school rules.

    AND losing weight in process.

Flexibility is my biggest concern so that is why always go light on weights but these 40 pound flys are a waste of fucking time.

Screw the 45s/50s....... Gonna warm up with the 40s and grab the 60s tomorrow.

Your arms should have a slight bend in them. They make me sore (pec deck doesn't do shit for me...) and give a good stretch. 3 set of 10 is a good "finisher" for chest day.

You might want to mix it up and try them incline or decline.

60's are pretty heavy shrimp - do you press with about 100? I press with 85's and fly with 55's... but I know people who press with 90-95 and only fly 50...

      50s

Just got back from the flys

40s .... 22 reps (had more but wanted more weight)
    50s...... 15 reps
    50s..... 15 reps
55s...... 8 reps (maybe a few more if had to but was feeling that)

Incline bar 2 sets of 135 (15 each).... the decline was broken  so fooled with some type of decline machine (Grey Hammer Strength).  How a decline bar breaks is beyond me.

Never done dumbbell presses so no clue on that.

    Nice lifts!

I do barbell press then DB press then DB flies... I like doing a variety of incline flat and decline.

Today was back day for me... 395 deadlift for 6 reps... my shins are bruised as fuck. I want to do rack pulls next week.

Good thinking, I'll throw some DB presses in there.

By the way, some of these old school looking gray "Hammer Strength" machines have some nice angles.  Especially the chest press, has a slight incline to it or something.

I'll have to check out the hammer machines the next time I see one at the gym.

My experience with DB presses is that the total is less than my barbell press, e.g., 8 reps of 225 BB feels like 8 reps of 90's for me. I like DBs after BB to really work the stabilizers (especially when I BB with a Smith machine).

Weighted dips are great for lower chest and tricep.

By the way, nothing sore from doing those flys.  Not even a remote tenderness which is bizarre.  I get sore from all kinds of other stuff.

Think I'm already sore from doing the reverse back crunches or roman chair lifts or whatever you call them at body weight.

Does anybody find that exercise to him them in the hamstrings?

Another Good Machine----->Cybex Inside Grip Pulldowns

One of those machines you probably walk by 1000 times and never notice it's there.  Looks like built in 1960 but it focuses the lats.

Noticing that some of the larger body builder type guys frequent these old school machines.

    Ironmike567,

Did back and legs today and we finished up with some 8 pound bent over dumbell rhomboid raises (or whatever you call them).  More of a shoulder exercise but son of a biscuit.  Talking about not being able to pick up your car keys

I'm looking at these little 8 pound dumbells cursing at them.  Seems like after a few strong sets, your body muscles just shut down.  It's hilarious.
