Draft Position Strategy Question

I am in a 12 man league. I hold the 12th spot. Would you go Elite WR/WR at 12 and 13 or what ever is left over from the RB's and go RB/RB at 12/13 or take Brady or if Manning is left go either of those 2 and then go WR or RB..depending on which of 2 has the best talent at that position? Please reply with your input!!

Likely that one of the tops 4 QBs will be available - if so, I'd go with QB and then Moss or best RB available.  WR/WR is too risky - they are feast or famine.  Top tier RB and QB is the infrastructure for your team.  Good luck

No way you go back to back WR. Then grab yourself a QB like Romo or Shaub with pick 3 and then a RB with pick 4 like pierre thomas. Im telling you right now if you dont go WR-WR and you leave it off till round 7 or 8 you will end up with robert meachum and devin hester. if you wait for your 2nd runningback you can find some major upside in rounds 7-10. micheal bush, ahmad bradshaw, felix jones, marion barber, arian foster, jahvid best, joe addai, beanie wells and so on. bottom line WR is most important i think this year. you can find talent in the RB position in the late rounds. you CAN NOT find WR talent late unless you think steve breaston is going to be a beast.

If manning falls im going Payton/R Mathews. Both have soft schedules and especially going into the playoffs. When it comes back i will grab WR/RB then go WR/TE and come back after that Then RB/WR again. Then Def/WR

In a 12 man league - there is no question WR will be a weakness.  But I think you are making a good decision - top tier QB and RB will be very consistent.  Hopefully you get one top 20 WR and then another maybe top 25 second WR.  Check out w   w    w     kffl dot come - best free draft cheat sheets around

This depends if it is a PPR league or not.  Not sure how peeps can put realistic input with out knowing this.

Its a performance league..Not PPR

 

You'll still get a top 10 qb and some of the top wr's will out score some of the top rb.  Wes Welker was one of the top scoring players last season in a PPR league.  And he only had 4 td's. 

 

If a RB has 1400 and 10 tds, that's a good year.  But a WR that has 1200 yards and 90 catches and 4 tds is better.  Just because the 90 points on ppr is a lot to make up.

i did a few mock drafts, in my opinion best thing is 1 wr  1 rb you dont want to be in situation where u dont have enough rb,s on your team

i would hold off on a qb till late alex smith has easy schedule and kevin kolb should be good also

Thats why you get a pass catching RB that catches 40balls for 350yds and 2td's on top of his 1200 rushing yds and 8tds

Cracks me up about this wr thing, you know 5 guys will come out of nowhere when the season starts. I defintiely like Mike Williams from tampa although he has no ne to throw him the damn ball.

Laurent Robinson stays healthy he will be 1 of those 5.

Grab sims walker a little later hes a strong wr that goes kinda low

Roy WIlliams has looked good. mo massaquoi, crabtree, dez bryant, someone in there is gonna come out of nowhere and put good numbers up.

Rbs are very strong, I didnt like Best but now I like him more and more each time I see him play. 4 deep at rb very nice.

Very nice getting AJ at 12 or 13 was a good choice.  Then you got 5 capable guys and like I said one will come out of that bunch. Shaub loves Jacoby Jones, I like Breaston, Chad is kissing TO's butt so hard he might actually have a great season. Steve Smith good mo mass #1 on browns not a bad job.

I would pick WR/WR or hope Brees is still available. I would NOT select Larry Fitz.

Oops u already picked. Like ure team man but I would dump Eli for Alex Smith or Matthew Stafford. These guys are breakout canditates this year. Big Ben will do well too when he gets back. Eli is a Fantasy disaster...........

CRONK is right you have to go WR-WR and then RB and maybe a qb or another RB. If you don't get a WR early they will suck.

Thanks for the feed back fellas. Stafford is still available. I also had to pick a defensive player and I wanted Pat Willis but some asshole took him before me. I grabbed Charles Woodson in a panic. Still some good players on the waiver any suggestions. I was think  A Winfield. Or A Cromartie or Roll the dice and take Revis Island.

Do you get 1 defensive player? If so charles woodson is a AWFUL individual defensive player when it comes to fantasy. A great player on the field and awful in fantasy. Unless you get tons of points for INTs there is no reason to own him. You need a high tackle player who has guaranteed points every week. If woodson does not grab a pick your stuck with 2 points.

I mean his numbers are good from last year. He had a career year towards the back end of his career with 3 pick 6's, 9 INTs, 4 fumble forces and almost 20 deflects. Just my opinion.

Ew thats even worse. No sack = no points. You need a guy who will get you 7-8 tackles a weeks. Everything else a bonus. You get a guy who can have 8 tackles a sack and a fumble force as a good week. Im guessing most of the guys in your league know what their doing so im going going to see if a guy like beason, lauranitits, ruud, dj williams or ray lewis is out there. Ive been doing IDP leagues forever now. Linebackers are always the best to have. I try to stay away from linebackers in 3-4 defenses because they provide low tackle opprotunities. So a guy like London Fletcher who has been a beast every year may have a big decline in tackles with the skins switching to the 3-4. Any of these guys available... Tulloch, Vilma, Cushing ( bench him 1st 4 weeks ) Posluzny, Demeco Ryans, Lance Briggs....
