And I think my team is still good enough to win. I'll go out and try to trade for a big bat...and my team will certainly be set for the future.

I rather be in a better position for the next 2-3 years than possibly have a chance this year.

And you waste Hosmer if you want Harper. REALLY trying to wrap my head around this one. Hosmer is READY and THE REAL DEAL NOW! Harper may not be for another 3 or 4 years and he will be off your team. And now you lose Hosmer for nothing pretty much.

I just think that if Harper lives up to the hype...it's 5 years of a guy who can be a first round pick...depending on when/if he turns it up.

And Harper gets my franchise tag and my prospect contract NEXT YEAR when he's eligible for the ROY since he won't be called up this year. Hosmer gets my prospect contract this year. Because, as you said, only URISS was allowed to give Harper his prospect tag because you told him differently than the rules stated. If he doesn't get 130 ABs this season...he's eligible for the ROY Award next year, making him next year's "prospect contract".

That makes Wainwright expandable at the deadline if anyone wants to throw him in their DL spot, franchise him, and keep him for next year. If not...he'll ride my DL the rest of the way for shits and giggles.

What you said really hit me earlier in the year when you were shopping Jeter. He WILL get 100 runs this year (or around that with this DL stint). Obviously it was just a selling ploy on your part...but it's true.

I agree...but saying Barney is better than him isn't right. It's all about "what have you done for me lately" and "lately" Jeter has been playing respectfully...until he got hurt.

I do like to think that I'm a good manager though when it comes to thinking ahead.

Sparky just answer one thing. What are you trying to accomplish this year? You are in 6th place. Playoffs. This trade may not help you for 3 years.

O MY GOD your in the playoffs. You bitch and moan about getting healthy. You get healthy. Say you have the best team in the league. Then trade your #2 overall pick Josh Hamilton for Madison Bumgarner for this year.

I still think I can make the playoffs this year. And once you're in the playoffs...we know that it can be a crapshoot with people resting and, of course, hot/cold streaks which can hurt anyone. We learned last year that the top 2 teams didn't make the finals.

And usually...my trades are made to get me from last place to the just miss the playoffs. Now I'm making moves in the playoffs that can make me move up even more. I know what I'm doing...and if I happen to miss the playoffs...I'll have a good team next year.

Why didn't you bold the 2nd part? I STILL THINK I can make the playoffs. I'm not done trading.

But I am done trading players for picks...at least for now.

It's not like I'm trying to bomb this season. I've never tried to bomb a season. I just think I can still make moves to make myself a playoff team this year while making myself great for the years ahead.

Yes...I lost the trade for this year. But lets not forget...I had the best team before I traded Hamilton. Now my team is like 4th-5th best. I can handle that.

I just thought of doing a trade with PSM with one of my starters for a bat. Then I realized...did he say that his 2nd want was a STARTER? I'd kill for his staff...how does he want a fucking starter?

But I can't trade with him because I don't like his offense aside from his big guns who he's not wanting to trade.
