im in for adding a few roster spots but i say just we just stick to keeping 1 rookie at years end..  that way more guys end up in next years draft for us rather then each team keeping 2 rookies.

Yea...you're right. It makes sense. How many rookies are there really?

  worth keeping, probably not 24, i can think of roughly 10 but dont know the regulations 100% on Pitchers and Hitters.

 last season was a rare exception with so many Rookies making an impact on their teams...  there was Stanton, Castro, Heyward, Posey, Austin Jackson, Feliz, Carlos Santana, Gaby Sanchez, Neil walker, Jose Tabata and Strasburg. Im probably forgetting a few but those guys made a significant impact on their teams and i highly doubt we'll see another year where that many do so well at a young age unless todays athletes are just flat out better at younger ages..

How many AB's qualify a guy and make that his Rookie season ?? 200 ?

and how many IP's does a Pitcher have to register for that to be his Rookie season?? 

hellickson pitched over 36 inn but im not sure if he's considered a Rookie/Prospect or last year was his rookie year. same with Dominic Brown, he only had 62 AB's.  and what about Chapman, 15 games but only 13 innings..

help me out here sparky or Manram..   (we'r usually the only ones in here)

less than 45 days on the active roster. Being called up in September doesn't count.

im in for whatever, i just have to read that huge post on YH, might get a lawyer over and discuss some of the contract stuff, but ill adapt lol

I'm not sure if I asked this before but a little help is needed.

Lets say I draft Montero, but he isn't called up until September and isn't eligable for the ROY...could I still sign him as my 4 year rookie...or MUST he be eligable for ROY THIS YEAR?

sparky:  i know u couldnt use him as your "Prospect Contract" cause whatever player u assign to that has to be eligable for the ROY award.   

what about Franchise Tag for him..  that can be assigned to a player drafted by you in the final 9 picks of the draft, or an undrafted free agent or a trade but he must of been eligable for the team that traded him to you..

i think i have a grasp on these contracts...

The first part is what I was questioning. Just making sure about all of the things. It's only 10 days away.

I've been researching constantly but it's so hard to predict how others will draft. Then you got to change everything you've been thinking on the fly...and it's near impossible to have everything figured out by the time the 90 seconds begins.

There's a STUD outfielder...but OF is pretty deep...do I go for the All-Star 1st baseman even though he's the 5th best 1st baseman on the board...or do I go for a SECOND outfielder as my 2nd pick?

It's rough. I have no plan going into this draft...but I'm hoping to come up with one. It's easier to figure out what NOT to do as opposed to what I should do.

Is our deadline to give out our contracts Opening Day...or is it shortly after the draft?

i hear ya sparky...  i'v been making a list of my top 15 guys at each position and i'll see what each of you select and what positions are going faster then others and make my picks on the fly..  90 seconds goes fast when ur undecided on that SP or filling an infield position..    1 thing i really like is that i get B2B picks everytime i select after Rd.1    i can see what positions are thinning out and snag 2 players to fill 2 needs in a row.. i hate the wait in between my selections but having 2 picks in a row is nice. 

 

 

I wanted to do the draft on here the covers message board. Maybe 2-3 rounds a day. Got shot down pretty quick. Each pick you could get around 5 minutes. Possibly more rounds a day depending on how long it was taking.

Yea...I remember that. But I, personally, much rather do it in a live draft than take a week to complete my team.

It's killing me now to figure out how the draft will go in 1 night...imagine how much you'll be thinking about it on a day to day basis.

a live draft would've been real legit 

  its gonna be just like last year except this year its a Keeper..    i'v been trying to figure out all the guys i want and what rounds i think they'll go in but we'll be doing most picks on the fly cause you dont know what the other managers are thinking so most of the pre-planning will get tossed out once somebody reaches and takes a guy 2 rounds earlier then projected...  i know of at least 3-4 players guys will take way to early to secure them on their teams.  should be fun..   i'v been spending hours looking at depth charts and researching players and i even been running sprints to help me with my cardio so i dont get tired during the draft cause its such a long night and while others are wearing down around Rd 15 and taking any ole' guy just to get it over with thats when i'll build my championship team.....

ManRam: how early does Yahoo let you launch the Draft window so i can make sure i dont have them problems an hour or two before we draft..   are we able to get on an hr before its draft time?
