2nd pick in draft (Prob AP but considering Westbrook) - thoughts

LT going 1st that is a given.
 
I think the popular chice is AP.  I really like him and he is a stud but man I am nervous about taking him.
 
Crazy thought but considering Westbrook.  I know this will not be popular but he is a work horse for Philly and he seems to be consistently solid.
 
Will probably take AP but just bouncing some ideas off you guys.

Ok I'll play devil's advocate.

Something to consider with AP is that the last 3 years playing professionally or collegiately he has been slowed by some time of injury causing him to miss games or limited carries.

Westbrook proves to be an especially valuable commodity if you are awarded points per reception. The undersized back from Villanova continues to boast strong numbers year after year.

Don't get me wrong I think you are in great shape with either... but if I was in that position I probably would go Westbrook.

I have been bouncing the same question back and forth.  I absolutely LOVE Westbrook. I think he is the best No. 2 pick.  BUT , I feel AP's offensive line is too dominant to pass him up.

if it is a PPR league then you have a case for westbrook....I've never been a huge fan of him....he reminds me of bobby abreu in baseball...he does everything well but nothing outstanding, so he gets overlooked. That being said, he justifies the 2nd pick.....I just wouldn't do it. Last year IMO is the absolute pinnacle of what he will do, now if you think he will stay healthy and do what he did last year then take him. I think the risk doesn't meet the reward.
 
Remember this is RB that is almost 30 (granted he doesn't have the workload of other guys his age) and he is coming off the most touches of his career.
 
AP is no sure thing either when you can say he's been hurt at every level of play and he doesn't catch alot of balls.
 
I just think with their style of play and that line, you can pencil him in for 1300 and 12 TDs with your eyes closed. And his upside is LT-like.
 
To me he's worth the risk and if you pass him up....he can make you look VERY silly.
 
AP for me.

Man, I don't know what you want the guy to do, if you think he does nothing outstanding.  He has been nothing but outstanding the last two seasons in fantasy.
 
If it is a PPR league and not a keeper league I would take Westbrook.  With McNabb starting in much better shape, Westbrook's value should only be higher.
 
If it is a keeper, or not a PPR league, then I would probably stick with AP because his potential for yards on the ground is better than Westbrook.  Westbrook will get you more from the line of scrimmage, but not strictly on the ground.  TD's should end up around the same.

Westbrook-a local DC guy outplayed my guy LT a few years ago in my fantasy bowl..
 
As long as he's healthy-Westbrook is a stud...
 
Don't forget , McKinnie in Minnasota is most likely going to be suspended for 4 games -less running room for AP ...

Westbrook I think ap is going to get hurt this year and the vikings are going to split alot of time with taylor.  But westbrook is the man in phi and also will get mucho catches

I went with Westbrook.
 
Purely looked at 2007 stats.
 
- westbrook had 111 more touches than peterson (that is a shit load and provides a lot of potential).
- westbrook had only 8 less rushing yards than peterson.
- westbrook led the league in yards from scrimage (peterson was 4th).
 
all in all this confirmed my thoughts that although Peterson is a stud his fantasy hype (atleast above Westbrook, and in some eyes above LT) was all due to the "sexy pick" and not based solely on numbers.
 
In reality based on numbers alone (take personal bias out of the equation) Westbrook should probably be #1 in the draft above even LT.
 
Not to mention he is a workhorse in his offense (perhaps more so than any other player in the league).

I dont think you can just look at numbers based from last year alone.  LT is the man year in and year out with no Michael turner to steal away a couple carries from him.  LT is a clear-cut number one this year.
