Last week I went with Texas -42. Their offense scored the expected 59 points but their defense gave up 20. I start the season 0-1.
This week I think the UCLA defense steps up and keeps this game closer than 11 points.
After last year's out-of-conference road game beat down, suffered at the hands of BYU, it appears the UCLA coaches are not taking this game lightly and flew the team out on Wednesday. Classes haven't even started in Westwood so this game is all business.
The UCLA QB Prince can be excused for the slow Bruin start against SDSU. He had not played in a football game for almost 2 years. His start really wasn't that slow. On their first series UCLA started with 8 straight pass attempts with Prince completing the first 5. This drive resulted in a FG that answered the Aztecs opening drive score. He looked good at times comfortably stepping up into the pocket, but also made some mistakes that ultimately led to the same number of interceptions Crompton had against Western Kentucky. Prince is head and shoulders above the QB who beat the Vols last year. Additionally the Bruins have significantly improved their running game, although it couldn't have gotten much worse. UCLA also has an excellent kicker.
The defense is the reason that UCLA appeared to start slow but after they settled down they held the Aztecs scoreless for the last 3 quarters.
The pressure is all on Tennessee with the absurdly high expectations that most SEC fans have for their teams, and the Florida game looming on the horizon. If the Vols have another slow start in front of their home crowd, nervous time could come calling.

Agree with you Irish. The other UT has been in constant flux since their National Championship. The pressure for those east tennessee folks is too high. UCLA will hang close. Lack of leadership and talent at the QB spot hurts em.

I think TN wins the game but cannot give 10 points with that QB that have. UCLA is pretty questionable from their game last week as their OL looked weak. I will sit this one out, better games out there but it will be interesting to see if either of these teams will be decent before the year is out.
