I would love to take NIU, but it's all about whether or not the new coach is gonna let Harnish run with the ball.

Northern Illinois will be the fourth team in six years to participate in the game with a new, interim or lame-duck coach. Boise State did so in 2005, Miami did it in 2006 and Georgia Tech did it in 2007. Miami was the only team of those three to win the game. The Fresno players suspended dont play major roles and the injured Bulldogs are expected to be ready to go.

[/Quo    OK I SOBERED UP. After looking closer into this classic bowl match-up, Fresno doesn't look as inviting as they first appeared. I can see the Bulldogs putting 28 points on the board against the Huskies just like the Illini did.   On the other hand, Nevada put 35 points on the board against the Bulldogs and the Huskies numbers are similiar to the Wolfpacks. Looks like a good score prediction to me.

Fresno is inviting as hell. Show me a quality win by the Huskies. When they did play an above average team (Illinois, Miami), they pooped on themselves. Temple is NOT a good team. They simply play the same weak teams NIU does. Only concerns here may be the weather.

did you really just try to compare NIU's offense to Nevada's?  you should know better than that, Colonel...

numbers-wise the comparison makes sense... but i think that is where people are really missing the mark on this game... consider this:  how bad would NIU get blown out if they hosted Boise this season?  my guess is Boise would be favored by 21+ and would cover by halftime, and then cover again in the 2nd half... and if anything, NIU's defense sizes up with Nevada's defense more than the offenses...

it's interesting how much attention and discussion this game has received... a lot of people are going to be very surprised (one way or another), and a lot of other people will be saying "i told ya so"...

I don't think NI prepared for that Miami game. They thought they could win the game on cruise control mode. They got caught. They will show up for this one, I expect to see the Huskie team that put up some big offensive numbers throughout the season. I never could pick WAC & MAC games anyway so what the hell, chalk up another ATS loss for the colonel

you don't think they prepared for the conference championship game???  not buying that logic.

neither team has a quality win this season in my opinion. both teams are bad away from home. fresno did beat la tech on the road, but got killed by hawaii at home. the only thing that is making me lean fresno here is the fact that n. illini cannot pass and fresno does better against the run.

NIU players played in the Miami game like they knew their coach was going to quit on them the next day. Coach Kill did quit on them the next day, tripling his salary and heading off to University of Minnesota. Did the players know their coach was quitting on them? Kind of hard to keep it a secret when Kill attempted to take his entire coaching staff with him and made little effort to recruit incoming freshman for the next year (judged worst group of high school recruits in the MAC)

I know the MAC is a lousy conference, but this NIU team is far better than how they played against Miami Jr. Taking NIU -1.

kudos to NIU for having a great mac season beating there opponents in to  sumission often..hell they even beat E. michigan 71-3..but must side with pat anyone, anywhere ,anytime hill and this fresno squad that ended the season on a high note, look for the bulldogs fast front 7 to shut down the huskies ground and pound game forcing qb harnish to the air,,something NIU is not all that good at,,while FSU O gets going behind hard to see back rouse....the cold weather  does kind of concerns me a bit,,suppose to be around 0 with a chance of rain and sleet but gotta ride  the better team here ...fresno 27---10...........

(At least Fresno is familiar with Bronco Stadium , They play there quite often, No Ill will be blinded with the blue Tuff. )

Weather may play a significant factor in this game--30-34degrees--rain and  or snow likely at game time ,while it's been raining during the day--hmmm,who has the better running game,I'm thinking an under here(better with a tease) and n. ill is a better road team and probably a better cold weather squad--so i'll tease n. ill. up and the over down for one unit--!

Too much love for Fresno St here.  NIU had a down game vs. Miami (OH) but prior to that they had been 10-2 SU & 9-2 ATS, pounding their competition into submission.

Spann is the real deal but the difference maker here is NIU's defense.

QB Adv goes to Fresno, but running game & defense goes to NIU.

I'll lay the 1.5

I will say the over does look good sitting in at 57.5

I have a big problem with this game.  Fresno has a huge SoS advantage and a pretty decent Power Ranking advantage, yet they opened as an underdog on the Surf Turf against a team that couldn't beat Miami (OH).  That game caused so many bridge jumpers it's not even funny.

Usually I would go with the duck if it looks like a duck but it might be a fish cause it really smells.
