I don't like going against BigDaddy, but I have to roll with BC here. They have a great track record in bowl games, and in fact have played at this location in SF for bowl games many times, even when it was called the Emerald Bowl and other names. BC has the nation's leading tackler in Kuechly as part of what many feel are the best starting LB's in the country.
Kaepernick is a heckuva QB and could have a great game here. But one way to beat a team like this is with a solid and disciplined defense and a good running game to play keepaway -- both of which BC has in spades.
They may not win it outright but they keep it within a TD.

Who do you like tonight? I was on Auburn but am leaning toward Oregon. GL regardless... and good call spending time with family over that game, it wasn't that good. BC's offense sucks, but their D is great.

You lost so you are saying stupid shit. Ref calls on that last drive by Boston were atrocious. The pass interference call put Boston College in field goal position which pretty much gauranteed them getting a field goal and covering the spread. Even the announcers who are instructed to downplay bad calls said it wasn't pass interference. If you fix a game you keep things simple, one ref, one key player, that is all it takes. You never fix it so bad that the losing team wins, that would draw too much attention, you fix it so a heavy favorite doesn't cover the spread.
Nobody ever approaches players or refs to throw a game, that isn't how it is done. Casinos have data banks on all their gamblers. When one of them is either a player or a ref they get approached with a free credit line. Now and then one them takes the hook. Once they are deeply in debt a way out is proposed. Just help a big favorite to not cover the spread.
It doesn't happen a lot but it happens more often than anybody imagines. How do I know? Statistics. 99.9% certainty through statistics. In a large enough sample size you get what is known as the bell shaped curve. But guess what, it isn't a perfect bell shaped curve, there is a noticable dimple right smack dab at the point spread, it could be a coincidence, a one in a thousand coincidence, but I don't think so.
Was this game thrown? I don't know. Are some games thrown in the exact manner I am describing? Almost without a doubt. What would the powers that be do if they knew about this? They would let people go whom they suspected and they would keep it very quiet.
The history of gambling in this country is documented in the book "Suckers Progress" it is written by a serious historian who also wrote "Gangs of New York" Gambling has always been fixed, the latest "clean' era of gambling is the exception to the rule.
