I am extremely cynical about conspiracy theories. My rule of thumb is never blame on a conspiracy what could just as easily be attributed to human stupidity. But I read some solid statistical analysis that strongly imples monkey business specifically in college basketball. Seems there is a sizable dimple in what should be a perfect bell shaped curve (huge sample size) right at the point spread. Wouldn't you know it that dimple strongly and I mean mathmatically 99.9% strongly implies that some road teams ease up just enough to still win but not cover the spread.
Some college kids are broke and I mean hungry broke and mix that up with a gambling business that is HUGE and you have the right ingredients for trouble. Pros are paid too much, I really doubt that there is monkey business going on there but college student atheletes? It isn't a wacky conspriracy theory to pinpoint the right guys in the right spots that fixers would go after. Senior QB's who aren't going to the pros, senior dominant basketball players who aren't good enough for the pros, refs in college and pro basketball to call more or less fouls for the over/under, and damn near everybody in international soccer. That's how I see it after researching the subject.
Funny thing is rumors of fixing increases betting, not what you would expect, because everybody thinks they have the inside dope.

"SMU is not that good of a team".
And Army is?
At least SMU beat a couple teams with winning records. Also beat two bowl teams, including a good Tulsa team.
Army finished 6-6 and lost to Rutgers. Rutgers??

I'm not usually a conspiracy theorist either... but I did and do have suspicians and when the basketball ref came out and said it, it was kind of a "I told you so moment"... just like holding calls in football.. or ticky tack pass interference calls... because you just say it's "human judgement"... so that can always be blamed for it.. and we the public can understand human error or human judgements in a sporting event... ??????????? Although this Mayan calendar thing might hold water? lol We'll see soon enough.
Army +7 and Over 24 2nd half.... going with the Houston vs Air Force results from last year... SHARP

exact reason i put them small...
padron has been shaky and there has been some questionable play calling. smu still looks like the better team to me, but gonna be tough to cover that spread now ![]()

Well, that was a whole lotta suck!!! When do you ever see a QB go 2/7 for 30 yards and no touchdowns, and still win the friggin' game?!?!?
I knew I shouldn't have bet against our armed forces in the armed forces bowl
Oh well, congrats all you Army & Under's - you stole one.....

Went 2-0 yesterday with the OVER In the Ecu game & Okla St -5![]()
I'm rolling with an underdog to start the day off.
Why?
Army averages 27 PPG / allows 25 PPG
SMU averages 26 PPG / allows 26 PPG
Army's passing D gives up 190 yds/pg and ranks 24th out of 120.
SMU is primarily a passing team racking up 273 / ypg (21st) so that plays into Army's strength on Defense.
SMU has struggled with an option team this year falling to NAVY 28-21... Army fits into a very similar offensive scheme.
I believe this will be a fairly low scoring game decided by a TD or less so I will take the TD + the hook.
SMU was able to muster up a whopping 14 points vs. a very suspect UTEP defense so I think Army can keep this one competitive.
Risking 2 units
to win 2 units
