Look.....we can go round and round with this discussion. To each his own. I just wanted to get accurate information out there regardless of what someone has heard or read. UGA will be fine. Sure there are concerns, but there are concerns with every program. Richt will make the changes required to make UGA a national title contender on a consistent basis.
And with regard to the article koko posted.......don't hold too much stock in what Buck Belue says. His info is right less than 1% of the time. He has whored himself via sports talk radio and uses his name and years playing at UGA to get interest in his program. Its called ratings.
Smart left UGA b/c he had a better opportunity. He's a defensive guy. He was a little miffed when he was originally hired by UGA that he was going to coach LBs but he moved to RB coach. There was also some indecision b/w him and Garner regarding a couple of recruits but that happens all the time. There is no and never was any dislike b/w the coaches other than BVG and Calloway.
I will leave with this point of advice. People need to segregate what is fiction and fact more often than not in todays world of college football. Especially with regard to print and web media when it comes to their favorite colleges. There is a ton of info out there that anyone can get.....but most....about 95% that is published is pure bs. For example the DC job has only been offered to one guy....and that was Kirby Smart....no one else. The backup guy is the DL/DC coach for the Dallas Cowboys TGrantham. That is fact. However the media would like you to believe UGA has struck out at least 3 times already. Laughable.
I know where my info comes from and it is spot on 99% of the time. So I wanted to set the record straight for those who were interested. And when it comes to boosters at UGA and those individuals having inside info........it may happen on occasion but not very often. Richt runs a very tight ship when it comes to his program, especially staff hires, the inner workings of the football team and the like.
God bless and Go Dawgs!

I don't have any sources inside the UGA program like some of the others on here, but I study several reputable SEC and team blogs. What I am seeing is that Todd Grantham is their number one candidate but UGA can't work on a deal with him until after the Cowboys finish their season.Another name on the Bulldog radar is MTSU's DC Manny Diaz but it looks like Mississippi State is currently in talks with Diaz to fill their DC position.I don't know why all of the love for Diaz as I've never thought of the Blue Raiders as having an excellant defense.
I'm sure that folks in Athens will be rooting for the Vikings on sunday. ![]()

He hasn't done it thus far, what makes you think he's going to do it now? I'd say he's had maybe two elite teams at UGA, and the rest have been good teams but nothing special.
He's a winning coach, and a winning guy, but I don't view him as elite.

Mark Richt has made Kirby Smart,John Chavis,Bud Foster, and Vic Koenning wealthier men for sure.Next up,Dallas Cowboys D line coach Todd Grantham.
The Georgia media is really starting to turn on Mark Richt,it would be in his best interest to sign someone soon. But if you look at who's turning him down it makes perfect sense.Smart,Chavis, and Foster all had UGA's offers matched by their current schools and Illinois outbid UGA for Koenning.Furthermore I doubt that Foster was ever very serious about relocating to Athens and the Bulldogs were right not to get involved in a bidding war for someone that would be on the lower end of their wishlist (Koenning). One thing is certain however, whoever the next Bulldog DC is,they will be an improvement over Willie Martinez.
