What does the A&M stand for in Texas A&M?

I'm guessing the "A" is agriculture, but what is the "M"?

Agricultural & Mechanical

Most of the "original" universities that were in rural areas or for rural type degrees were called A&M.

So now that we have that figured out, what does "whoooooooooooooop" mean? Where is our fellow capper AggieAccountant when you need him?

I am being sarcastic here..I wish my Texas A&M Former Students and their athletic programs success in the S E C, baby...after a 10 year SEC purgatory, I think they may eventually be competitive in football, but they will take it up the ass for a few years as their SEC tenure commences...It will be college football version of Louisiana’s notorious Angola prison, with Bama, LSU, South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia, tag teaming with the “new meat”…

yes, they'll face tough teams like Bama, LSU, etc, but THIS YEAR they will be better than:

OLE MISS
maybe MISS ST
VANDY
MIZZU
KENTUCKY

with Kevin Sumlin coaching, they will only get better than that over the next 7 to 10 years

they won't be bottom-feeders in the SEC with all of those great HS players you have in Texas

 Anyone remember the '97-'99 Kentucky Wildcats? (I'm quite sure that 'Bama and LSU fans do). Well Hal Mumme decided if he couldn't recruit with the other SEC schools, he had to do something different that his personnel could execute very well. His "Air Raid" offense was very effective and allowed the 'Cats to beat some teams that they otherwise wouldn't have been able to do so.

 I'm not equating A&M's current situation with that of UK of the late 90s. But it should be noted tht with "Air Raid" guru Kliff Kingsbury runninig the offense for the Aggies, they will be hard to prep for and they WILL catch some teams off guard.

I agree .. could see both Missouri and A&M being a tough quick study for some teams in the SEC...  Both run something different than what is usually seen in the SEC...

dont think either go better than 7-5 ty , but upsets will come

I remember Tim Couch and the Air Raid offense very well.

The difference here (Aggs in SEC).....is this will be the first time (pretty much)...that this type of offensive system will eventually have top notch athletes running it....assuming of course they are able to step up their recruiting...

Aggs (may) catch a few teams off guard....and their schedule is not too bad...I would expect early success....but the physical play might take it's toll late in the year....as the OL begins to wear down a little...

What will happen....until Aggs get more/better athletes
is too many SEC schools can just match-up on the corners and just start sending people....which will lead to more than a few ass-whippings....

*success at Kentucky was due to the fact that very few were doing anything similar.....BYU and Houston...plus Spurrier using same kinda principles at Florida....> now he doesn't look quite as smart does he?
