What is up with the Oregon State/TCU game.  I'll be all over Oregon State in that game.  TCU I think is going to be Utah from last year.  They are going to slide.

'09     0-4 ATS start.....including helluva struggle at UNLV .....wtf
'08     lost by 8 to Stan (-3)....then by 31 at Penn St (+15)
'07     2nd game got killed at Cinn (-3)
'06    drilled at Boise (+7)
'05     drilled at Louisville (63-27)....
'04     played well at LSU (cost me big $).....drilled at boise
'03     lost at fresno (-9)  

* in fact Riley's record ATS (in 1st 4 games of season)....is 5-23.......> guesstimating at non- lined games

 Yes.........I agree..........not sure why, but the Beavs have started slow & finished strong for a number of years now.........just their MO I guess, although they return a good chunk of starters from LY............may be able to turn that around.

I think you'll get that, and I agree with that.  I think they will hammer Syracuse badly.  I'd think the line will be 12.5-14

* being ridiculous as usual..... but actually shaping up as potentially a  nice start......as we have a greater number of teams returning a strong cast.......strong offenses that will be very difficult to stop WEEK !....and usually thru week 3 or so...

 NOTE:  this "time proven" handicapping method......(bet strong teams early.....> lay the wood....regardless of the #)........did not work worth a damn this past year........the ICEMAN i believe will back me up on this.....lol .......

BTW......may sound strange.......NOW is maybe the best time to review > preview for 2010....

REASON .....is that each team has clearly (most cases) established an identity......that won't really change that much ........MOST cases

what happens is that all the off season hype may create a NEW identity.....that is not accurate at all......AND......will cost you $$$$

I have already done the Big 12.....and now just have to make simple adjustments along the way...to pass the time.....i try to do at least 1 team /day......may post a few

EXAMPLE:
   the Baylor Bears......why were they 4-8 LY ?.....your answer immediately will be that QB Griffin got hurt.....WRONG.....it's because they got their ASS whipped on both sides of the ball ....by EVERYBODY....especially on defensive side...if they would have beaten a (severely) beaten up UConn team ......you might have a point (RG played).....couldn't stop  the f'in golden flashes (at home)....despite losing great RB Jarvis....kent st av 6.6 /rush !!...425 yds......and might have won if not 3 TO's /11 penalties....
Bears now return 7/2 starters......3/5 OL.....Griffin + RB Finley returns...only 2/5 WR back....only 26/44 in 2 deep are back....
..
GREAT team to fade once schedule gets tougher........assuming tcu gets dropped.......they'll have.....replacement (school for blind) > buffalo > sam houston > @ rice > kansas .......so potentially 4-0 going into....

what horn fans and most everyone else fail to realize is that texas is basically GA TECH in reverse...(not quite ...but close) ....> they can't run AT ALL....
their numbers (total rushing yds)....don't look that bad.....they tried...
they got their ASS WHIPPED .. (OL).....by most everybody....
this is why they NEVER really had a chance vs bama (colt going like 40-45 /450 only shot)......they ranked # 101 in TFL allowed (last in big 12).....84th in sacks allowed......and vs even decent defenses....no run at all.......(2.7/rush vs UCF good example)......KEY is......the teams they played (mostly).....were poor vs run.....so numbers WORSE than they appear.....# 92 rushing ....vs winning teams
now they have only 2/5 of that OL back.......can you say UNDER?......
8/12 tacklers back.....17/22 ....of 2 deep on D are  back

* don't wanna get that horn /bama thing started again......point was that (if truly a CHAMPIONSHIP team).....horns should not have had to put the WHOLE f'in  game on the shoulders of a fresh QB......reason why is because .....THEY CAN'T RUN THE FOOTBALL....bama's QB was hurt also.......remember? (only was able to attempt 11 passes or so)....no fuckin problem ....WE'LL JUST HAND OFF....SORRY HORN FANS .....stupid to say that bama can't throw.....in tough games they usually attempted 25-30 passes (he was hurt vs gators so few there also).......so in effect.....horns might have had the BETTER qb that night!!!......(given  injury to McElroy) ......so STFU......no excuses....shoulda just been able to hand off......15-20 short passes or so......win the f'in game ........so.....remember this next game vs tough / physical D .......should be the same story...maybe worse

I love it. Bookie already has the Week 1 TV schedule up with picks. lol I like my Ponies to possibly upset Texas Tech on the road. The loss of Shawnbrey McNeaL is huge but that passing attack should be deadly this year. I can't wait for the season to start.

as you prob know....that game moved to Sunday...
VERY interesting match-up.....the many question marks make it a no play for me.....BUT...have mustangs REALLY turned the corner ?......or total no-show by Nevada?

* struggled vs Rice at home
* won....but got pushed around vs UTEP at home...outgained  627-437 !
* lost at Marshall
* struggled with Tulane at home

* McNeal leaving to be 5th round pick or so....?

Big Ponies fan here. It will be interesting to see how the Tech team turns out. Not too sure what Tuberville's strategy is like. Still think we are 2 years away from challenging for Conference USA supremacy. Need to find some ball hawkers on defense. Turnovers on defense are huge for teams like ours who will score points at will. Don't think you can really find an edge here without seeing both teams in spring and the injury situations. Tech has owned us for the past decade ATS. Hopefully we will shock them first week of the season.
