I like those last three plays.
Utah State/Auburn and BYU/Ole Miss will be heat games.
Last season Southern Miss squeaked past LT on the road 13-12. Like the South Carolina game, Southern Miss moved the ball up and down the field at will, but couldn't manage to find the gloryzone. I'm willing to bet they'll be more sucessful in their endevour in Hattiesburg.

I never bet on teams that come from a non-humid climates that have to play in the heat and humidity of the south early in the season. That's one of my golden rules. I think the heat & humidity is a much overlooked factor this time of the year.
I really don't have a strong opinion on the BYU/Ole Miss game. Overall I think Ole Miss is slightly more talented. They have one of the best o-lines in the country which I believe will allow them to have success running the ball, take pressure off of whoever their QB is going to be, and wear down BYU's defense in the stifling Oxford heat.
I probably won't have any money riding on this game, but if I did, I would side with Ole Miss.
Utah State is in the same situation BYU finds themselves in - having to play in the suffocating heat of Alabama in early September. Were it not for that, I'd be all over the Aggies here.
Auburn has recruited a lot of talent the last couple of years, so the cupoard is not bare on the Plains. But with everything they lost last season, a lot of freshman will be pressed into service right out of the gate. I expect Auburn to start very slow. They are fade material for me until further notice.
I agree with you on Southern Miss. If you looked at what Southern Miss has done offensively under Fedora, scoring only 13 points against a lower-tier team like Louisiana Tech was clearly an anomaly. I think they win convincingly this time around. I like the play.
OB I always respect your thoughts on college football. I think you are one of the most underrated cappers on this board. Hopefully we can get out to a fast start in week one, and consistently bang the book's head all season.

Jimmy- your opinions are always respected in my book.. I think I'ma lay off the BYU/Ole Miss game.. The only reason I looked at that game, was because of the line.. Still debating on the USU/Auburn game..
Pulled the trigger on Miss State, was able to get it an -27.5, so i figured i might as well grab it before it went back up..
Baylor lost one of their starting WRs this week, but I think Griffin III is of the most underated QBs in the nation..
Sunday Leans:
SMU +16.5
West Virginia -20.5

There are just too many unknowns for me in the Auburn game - just too much of a crap shoot. I can't put money on either side.
In the first week of the season, I'd rather take my chances on a known consistent product like Alabama. With a team like Bama, I know exactly what I'm going to get. They are a predictable commodity.
As far as the Ole Miss game is concerned, I think the only side to play is the Rebels. I don't see any value in playing BYU at all. I do like the OVER in this game.

I like the Miss St pick. I think the line opened too low at 24. I think people are weary of going over 28 becuase it is a road game for a team that could be on a multi-year rise or could be a one hit wonder that plays well at home. I think Mullin will be preaching execution in week 1 since they have to go Auburn on 10 Sep. to win the Auburn game, they will need to be exeucting. I also think that this is a classic regional, We are Miss St, we are SEC, and you are not..Memphis is not that far away from Starkville and the Memphis coach has been starting to recruit well in the Memphis area despite their dismal W/L recent performance...
I also have Oklahoma and Missouri on my card. Best of luck to you on all the picks...
