Thanks to all of you nice enough to respond, particularly those who said nice things. I've been doing this in various forums for the better part of 20 years, and it is a struggle to come up with new things to say each week. Indeed, I ran out of beaver and trojan jokes in the late 90's,
As for those of you who asked where certain plays were (plays you had, no doubt seen my tout in other threads), I don't write up every game I like. Heck, Navy might have been my favorite game of last week, and I just forgot to include it. I do like OU, though I have cooled on it somewhat. The Sooners look great at times, and average at times. I'm not inpressed by the Huskers much, though.
As for Tulane, I've damn near bet UTEP about three times this week, and probably will yet, but there is something awfully tough about playing on a road team that has been so awful away from home thus far. Tulane has serviceable front-line talent, at least on the offensive side of the ball, and isn't as banged up as it was last year by this time. The Wave damn near beat the Miners last year, and it's Senior Day in the Dome for 16 Wave players. Something keeps telling me to leave this alone. I'll probably hate myself come Sunday.

i never understand these comments....a team either wins, or gets completely blown out? there is not an in between? please man....that just doesnt make sense..
I hear what you're saying, but I do think sometimes game set up this way. Occussionally you get a game that has a "big question" (like will Air Force's line get dominated by BYU or ND (in year's past), or is UConn just spent (this Saturday)?, where if the answer is "yes," you're in big trouble if you have the Falcons or the Huskies. If "no," you might be in for a dog-fight. I hope that made sense.

You should go write for Letterman. Lord knows he needs the help.
It's funny you mention Letterman. About 15 years ago a television reporter in Indanapolis was quoting from my weekly pick sheet for a couple of weeks (I did one entirely devoted to Prinicess Di after she died, and he apparently thought it was very funny). I guess he got tired of Trojan and Beaver jokes, though. That was as close a I ever came to hitting the big-time. I'm way funnier than Norm Chad ever dreamed of being, but I'll bet he's got a way nicer house.

I'm not as sold on the let-down thing as most people seem to be. UO was a three-point dog, and basically had the game won in the 3rd quarter. It's not like they pulled some monster upset in an epic battle. Yes, it was USC, on national TV, and probably for the Rose Bowl, but they've been bitch-slapping the Trojans around Eugene for a decade. The last time they did that, they went on the road and destroyed Washington. I don't love being against Stanford. I think they're solid and well-coached. They are well suited to play keep-away from the Ducks, which is a really good idea. Still, the freaking line isn't even a td! It would take a restraining order to keep me off the Ducks at -5.

The Blue Devils are in a nice spot here! They get the Tarheels coming off a hard fought victory in Blacksburg sandwiched between an upcoming visit from the Hurricanes so the caught looking ahead theory is definitely in play here. Factor in the fact that this is not your Father's Blue Devils football program and yo have a recipe for an underdog cover with an outside opportunity for an outright win.
Cutcliffe has thee kids believing in themselves, and with the aforementioned, that is a dangerous combination. The only concern for Duke would be a rash of nagging injuries. A win for Duke and they're Bowl Eligible which at the begining of the season would have been unphathomable! Nice Call on the Blue Devils!

I like your Duke plus the points play!
