Guys........ good debate BTW. Glad to see some of this coming back

Here are some of my final thoughts on this thing

    1. HEAD to HEAD should trump anything and everything. Why? It's the only concrete evidence we have to compare any two teams. Period....this is not debatable. If you want to debate how the teams compare to this or that that is subjective... but you can't argue head to head.

    2. I personally feel like the committee is doing a poor job on this thing.... Again, it's my opinion. Whether you agree or not that is fine...again, it's my opinion.

    3. Excusing things for whatever reason.... Using the injuries or the infamous " eye test "..... sorry guys, I heard people in this thread telling me that the eye test tells them TCU is better then Baylor.... well, that argument was SETTLED on the field. Sorry, if you believe other wise...but again, it's not me be subjective here...it's me presenting facts.... Baylor beat TCU. Fact!

again.............guys, don't get upset about what im saying or anyone else... this is a debate.

Those Oregon OL issues must have been epic to also account for Arizona hanging 500 yards and 31 points on them.

Arizona (at Autzen) had scoring drives of 58, 80, 93, 80 and 71 yards in that game. But Oregon gets a pass because its left tackle was out?

Here's a guy who gets it!  All this bs about who's in and who's out.  There should be one poll on Dec 7.  All the rest is for the four-letter network.

Those Oregon OL issues must have been epic to also account for Arizona hanging 500 yards and 31 points on them.

Arizona (at Autzen) had scoring drives of 58, 80, 93, 80 and 71 yards in that game. But Oregon gets a pass because its left tackle was out?

Mississippi State is ranked #1 and Bama is ranked #5.  Oregon is 2, FSU is 3 and TCU is 4.

These rankings are designed to assure that there is a team from the SEC in, and more than likely 2 teams in.  Bama beats MSU, then Bama is #1 or 2#.  MSU wins out after the loss, they are most likely #4.  MSU has the best track to make it in....even better than Bama's.....it could be advantageous to miss the SEC title game, and get an at large bid out of the SEC west.

Oregon wins out, then they are in, despite the big loss at home to Arizona. Oregon has looked human this season, @ WSU, @Utah, and of course Zona woodshedded them.  Stanford and MSU are the quality wins......both at home, and both opponents are showing how mediocre they are. UCLA isn't top flight either.

So, bottom line is this:  ESPN and the SEC are joined at the hip.  Nike has huge sway when it comes to Oregon getting national respect every year despite the slip ups.

The Big 10 is screwed in this system, more than likely because of the Big 10 network butting heads with ESPN at every turn. Ohio State is a damn good football team, better than Oregon, and will not get a look.

    This whole thing is garbage.

By 3 in Waco.  What is the home field edge in Waco?  I know you say head-to-head is everything but it's not.  Other factors involved.  I'm sure you watched the game.  Which did you think was the better team?  Which do you think is the better team in subsequent games you have seen?

Absolutely..... Plus, why is Oregon only getting a pass due to injury to their OT?? What about FSU's MULTIPLE injuries to their Center (more important position than Tackle), LB's (7! out last game), DT's (multiple players out all year, including several games to all-world Eddie Goldman, Nile Lawrence-Stample, and Justin Shanks), and several key in secondary (P.J. Williams and Ronald Darby, hamstring injuries).

Only considering Oregon with their zone read offense putting soooooo much importance on an injury to an OT (the opposite Tackle from the play doesn't even fkkn block for sht's sake!), is the reason for their HOME LOSS is a total joke.

And FSU had to play Clemson with a healthy Watson WITHOUT WINSTON...... and WON (due to ). Maybe if they would have lost, it would have been more impressive to these idiots

This is the 2014 football season. Who cares about 2012 and 2013 when it comes to rankings?

I agree 99%...I think you should consider it and there should be some benefit of the doubt...but it shouldn't be a get out of jail free card.  In fact, isn't this sort of thing the argument SEC haters make?  When bama was going for back to back NCs and they were looking poorly against mediocre teams, weren't the bashers claiming they shouldn't be getting points for winning the previous season?  same should apply for FSU.

You have to take into account what being the reigning champ means.....which is you are a target and get EVERYONES best shot. Miss St, TCU, Baylor.....no one expects them to keep winning (until now of course)....

This is college football, where mediocre teams can elevate their play for 4 quarters against a worthy foe....

So, you have the reigning champ and unbeaten Florida St, from a Power 5 conference (we arent talking WAC or Sunbelt here) behind Oregon, who lost by 35 points, @ home to a team the were supposed to beat by 3 tds....thats a 56 point swing for the #2 team in the nation....

Then, they got TCU ahead of Baylor, who beat they SU. Sure it was @ Baylor. However, like Al Davis said "Just win baby." Head to head HAS TO BE THE DECIDING FACTOR if you are gonna have a "selection committee" as its the ONLY THING THAT ISNT DEBATABLE.....Team A and Team B are otherwise equal....Team A beat Team B....I know, lets send Team B JUST BECAUSE WE THINK THEY ARE BETTER....Say what!!??

Does that sound right? If the answer is yes, I am no longer able to continue this discussion.

On a side note here about FSU:

I hear this alot about FSU......This isn't the same team, this team isn't as good as the last years team...

yeah and yeah. No arguments from most people.

But does that mean that FSU should be slighted? All these guys do is win...They know HOW to win.

Was the same people complaining when Miss st needed a last second stop to beat a Arkansas team who hasn't won a conference game in almost 3 years?

What about when bama needed the " luck of the Irish " just to beat that same Arkansas team..

Or even when Oregon lost to a unranked team at the time in Arizona SU as 24 point favorites?

What about how TCU choked away a huge lead against Baylor....all I hear people say is how it was only a 3 point win....Since did wins get slighted like that??? So does the Bama win over Arkansas become slighted?

The point is.............the way FSU is being disrespected  by people only shows me that those individuals have a vested opinion and want FSU to go down.

Head to head match ups have to mean alot. Otherwise, why do we have a playoff system. Do you want to go back to letting coaches or sports writers decide who the champion is?
