This committe is completely lost
Last year is last year, period, it has nothing to do with rankings this year
I personally think they are doing a great job, I'm a huge Oregon & Baylor fan but TCU is better than Baylor, I watched that game, their schedule out of conference is also better having beat Minnesota while Baylor was beating Northwestern St. Trust me when I tell you that I wish Baylor was ahead of them but I don't show bias when I rank them, I agree with the committee
My list is this
TCU
Bama
Miss St
Oregon
Baylor
Florida St
Auburn
Arizona St
Kansas St
Ole Miss
I change weekly just as the schedules unfold but that is what I see on the field & I would bet TCU vs any of them on a neutral field tomorrow (that can change due to injury, eye test, etc)
I think the discussion is good for college football but to argue like kids over it is ridiculous, I'm not going to do that
My opinion (we are all entitled to one)

Oregon only has two cellar dwellars to play on their remaining schedule while FSU has two decent teams in Florida and Miami to play. If they win out it will be interesting to see if the tables turn afterward to where you want it to be

I disagree with FSU being the "champs"

wahoo... we go way back
You got your opinion and I have mine...just agree to disagree
But if we don't use the head vs head as the final factor in deciding games..then the whole d@mn system is flawed... Period

Head to head HAS to matter..
Im sorry, I can't see anyway around that

and If I am on the committee (and I disagree with wahoo slightly here) I can't consciously give Alabama a top 4 spot over FSU or Oregon because I know they are not the better team. The main problem here is we all have to ask ourselves if at some point the eye test wins out over other factors? I guess I look at this too much from a betting standpoint because I would take TCU, FSU, Miss St, and Oregon straight up over Bama on a neutral. All about where we draw the line on some things
and that basically what this comes down too...
A vested interest...Subjective...
but at the end of the day we can measure matrix's in many forms....but the one matrix that can't be argued is head to head...

The good news is a lot of this will get sorted out on its own in the next 3 weeks....
absolutely......... you're right
but the truths still remain the same.... Perception is reality...and in the world of college football perception matters so much
just ask your local joe blow college football fan and he will echo what espn tells him....why? perception is reality

They aren't trying to pick the most worthy team or the team with the best resume. They are trying to pick the best teams. So Oregon gets a free pass on their loss because they had a lot of O Line injured.
I dont know about that....at all
So what are you saying... there needs to be built in excuses?
Let's say Watson starts at QB for Clemson from day .....should that be accounted for? IMO, NO..... because the game was played and coaching decisions were made.

& disagreeing is ok, I know for sure I'm not always right
I just know from watching that game who had control, who was better & who I think is more deserving & I'm a huge Baylor fan (I'm not a TCu fan at all & don't like Patterson at all despite knowing he is an elite coach).

again............. none is disagreeing with this.
But anyone who has been around this game long enough can tell you what im telling you. Even tho technically it doesn't matter right now.... but really it does, perception drives this industry.
If I can tell you a ugly dog is the new thing it means nothing.... but if the media can get involved and tell everyone it's the new " thing "....then the value just went up

No one wants to comment on Miss State's non conference schedule? FSU would be a pretty good favorite on a neutral site against Miss. St. You can mark that garbage down.

Exactly, all this stuff has created more buzz for the best sport in the world that we all know & love
It keeps everyone more interested

you are only here to troll to begin with.... and you said last week you wouldn't post in my threads anymore... but Ican understand why you are upset after I destroy you every time you come to play.
So let me slow this down and hold your hand like a little child
BAYLOR BEAT TCU BOTH ARE 8-1 AND THAT'S ALL THAT SHOULD MATTER......
yes, playing on the road is THE toughest thing to do college football. But at the end of the day and all things are the same ( 8-1 ) all we can do is go by the information at hand...which is Baylor beating TCU
Destroy me? lol, I'm still waiting on your response to why a kicker's freshman year doesn't count, only his sophomore year...we all know you seen the multiple times I've posed that question and you are just ducking it as you have no answer for your selective sample size.
correction: Baylor beating TCU @WACO.
The fact that you are trying to make this major point a non factor is just obtuse....Everyone, including yourself, likes to emphasize if a team loses @HOME it is worse. Shouldn't that work both ways? A loss is a loss right? Why put MORE WEIGHT into losing @home then?
Carry on "demolishing" me. Or more likely, ignoring these points and jump to calling me a troll...oops...too late. ![]()

I watched the game as well... and agree.. TCU had control.
But what matters wahoo? What matters?
Clemson controlled every aspect of the FSU game.. but what mattered? at the end of the day.....what mattered?

Im not talking nor have I talked about using the " eye test " as end all.... it's a matrix that one can use to create their own criteria. But I use head to head as the END ALL

btw.... bro, don't let Minnesota be the " tie breaker " card....come on now. Minnesota....really?
Head to head HAS to matter..
Im sorry, I can't see anyway around that
It does matter...but the problem is, you are making it the be all end all, and not considering other major factors, like thorpe said, injuries....what if FSU destroyed everyone in their path except one game in which Winston was suspended. Just discount that fact? no, consider it along with other pieces of the puzzle.
