Couple points and nothing more. Being a Texas A&M fan I can't believe they are ranked in this top 25. During the course of this year Marshall though flawed is better and Colorado St 9-1 in the Mountain West is better. NO TEAM THAT LOSES BY 59 should ever hit the top 25, EVER!!!!!!! Ohio St can't really complain can they, year in, year out their schedule is so soft it's charmin. When have they played on the road or neutral site games against any of the big 5 since 2011 at Miami(ACC) and lost. Please don't count Cal last year either. If the Buckeyes win out they will have beat 2 teams in the top 15, TWO.

U are one of the few that thinks the committee got it wrong.Actually,it looks about perfect to me.Folks are gonna get real mad if Auburn beats Georgia & Bama then moves up and just steals that #4 spot.Boom, people as they should don't care about the 2013 FSU team. They also don't care about point spreads. They watch the film and they see an average FSU team.Don't u think there is a reason Vegas has FSU a 2pt.favorite @Miami.My guess is they see that the Cane Frosh Qb is fitting in and putting up good numbers that will challenge FSU's 1/trick pony Winston to Green. There is a reason why Auburn is the highest ranked 2 loss team & was the highest 1loss team when they had 1 loss. Its called R E S P E C T.They saw the flukey blocked fg for a TD and 2/fumbles Auburn had and their offense scoring at will producing 350 yards rushing.I can't see one thing I would argue.I actually do think your Tigers should be ahead of Arizona...As devastating as the A&M loss was at the time maybe all it did was piss Auburn it off so they could take it out on Georgia. We strongly disagree on Ole Miss.Darn good football team and according to Vegas( who I think is wrong)they beat the best team in CFB in Bama.I have no idea why Bama is a 8.5 point fav against MissSt...Robinson of MissSt is a great Rb and will need 100/yarss I think to win.I like Minnesota to beat Ohio St Sat morn.I was joking about that Buckeye post then Your boy Snyder needs to pull the upset at Baylor or Charlie Strong needs to get his first signature win beating TCU in Austin and some can stick that GOLDEN Horshoe where the sun don't shine...Hey Packers,Auburn is BACK!...Me and Kevin Scarbinsky talked for about 15min today about it and he absolutely believes it.The committee doesn't like FSU because they think Jimbo is making a mockery...Just is funny to me Boom how u don't want to give a team credit that WON at #10&#13 then lost at home to #24 on a ToTAL FLUKE...Nobody can stop that offense of Auburn.CAP is out performing Tre Mason...The Defense needs lots of tweeking...Whether u like it or not AUBURN  IS ABSOLUTELY KNOCKING ON DOOR and ARE IN IF THEY WIN.They will get the help.If they don't there is always Cotton Bowl right?

Boom used a double standard to strengthen his argument both ways...on one hand, he tried to pump up FSU's SOS resume by noting only "current" top 25 teams in comparison to TCU's wins.

Then, when trying to discount Oregon's SOS, he disregards that Arizona is CURRENTLY in the top 25 and instead notes that when Oregon lost to AZ, AZ was UNRANKED and a 24 point dog.

I asked Boom to clarify which is it, current rankings or is it gametime rankings that should matter as obviously, AZ shouldn't have been a 24 point dog to the ducks.  He responded by defining the meaning of current, which was not the question.

Therefore, it's obvious that his reading comprehension, along with yours it seems, inabsence of a better word, is lacking...hence, my LAST response that will be directed towards him.  I now understand where he is "at" and feel no further need to discuss any topic with him.  I fully understand why he posts the things he posts.    I'll no longer clutter the circle jerk that is boom's threads.

I will only say, it isn't about reading comprehension, because I am not going to (and didn't beforehand) read every post of this thread... and I just saw what you quoted and what you said in response... so I'm sure there were some things out of context... however, your track record of past posts does indicate that you like to troll...

I fully agree with the statement about Oregon being a 24 pt favorite, and that was my major point of contention with this thread... penalizing Oregon or Auburn because they were 24 pt favorites is severely flawed logic!  It's not their fault they are perceived as being so much better than other teams, or that they have to live up to that moniker every single week... the committee can only judge who they beat and who they didn't beat...

A&M would terrorize the ACC, as would Arizona... so trying to say those are terrible losses is just flat out wrong!

Miami got their fools handed to them by Nebraska (3rd or 4th best in the Big 10)

ND (FSU's more impressive win?) got annihilated by Arizona St... (MAYBE the 2nd bets team in the Pac 12... maybe!)

Louisville lost to a very pedestrian Virginia team... and Clemson got whiped out by Georgia...

So why should we be so impressed with what FSU has done THIS YEAR!  If anyone bothers to put into perspective how the ACC fares when they venture outside of their conference, there can be no delusions that this even a respectable conference, let alone one that measures up against the other top conferences... anyone trying to do so needs to take a step back into the real world!

All of this is meaningless banter really, because we are judging what the committee is saying with 4 weeks of football left to play... many losses among the top teams are still forthcoming... so let it play out, and we can rip the committee IF they darn up the final 4, after the dust settles.....

Appreciate the civil response...and I agree completely.

IMHO, in certain circumstances, Boom would be right, head to head would be the trump card.  If say TCU and Baylor were both vying for the 4th and final spot and they were neck and neck with everything else being equal, sure, that would speak the loudest...but that isn't the case...his argument is that both are 8-1 and Baylor beat TCU, end of story...not that simple in my view.

Your last paragraph is it....it's week 4 of the CFP rankings!  Most likely it will work itself out and a top 4 will probably distance itself from the others...everyone will be happy.

    That's all that should matter

I think it's actually fairly simple for the committee this year. It's going to be the SEC winner, the PAC 12 winner, FSU unless they lose, and, I'd assume, one of Baylor or TCU which could be difficult but actually isn't as they have a head to head.
IF MSU had won out I think that would have been a much harder decision but the committee was saved from that. On TCU Baylor I think it's ridiculous that they have a legit tiebreaker (H2H) to actually make the decision and apparently have decided to ignore it but I think this is part of the committee's current picture idea and they're waiting 'til the season ends and if Baylor wins out they'll put them where they belong. Clearly from what we see the current picture isn't set in stone (1 loses 2 is not going to be 1, etc). If Baylor gets another "quality win" against KSU think they bump out TCU.

Let's say Watson starts at QB for Clemson from day .....should that be accounted for? IMO, NO..... because the game was played and coaching decisions were made.

They wouldn't give a free pass for coaching decisions(I hope), but if a team has key injuries for an early season game like Oregon, they appear to discount the loss.

I heard a ESPN guy talking about this.

I don't have an exact quote I can link to, but I did find  the committee's Mission statement, and it clearly says 4 best teams.

    https://www.collegefootballplayoff.com/selection-committee-protocol

The committee’s task will be to select the best teams, rank the teams for inclusion in the playoff and selected other bowl games and, then assign the teams to sites."

    Regarding Oregon jumping over FSU:

Long said the committee considered Oregon's loss to Arizona, but noted the Wildcats are now ranked No. 14 and said the committee factored injuries into the consideration.

So Oregon's big loss at home isn't considered a big loss to an unranked AZ team anymore, although it was. And only Oregon apparently has been dealing with injuries. This would indicate they looked deeper into Oregon and not FSU or else they would've realized how many injuries the Noles have been dealing with (i.e losing their starting Center, depleted RB depth, losing a starting LB and the ACC's leading tackler, etc...). They must only be looking at our final scores and game highlights on B$PN.

Who gives a flying F where Arizona is ranked now? The only reason Arizona is ranked is because they beat Oregon!

Oregon's best win was over Mich St, how good is that win looking now?

But it seems that ole Boomy is still stewing over what Bama did to Clemson and "Thunder & Lightening".... Lmao, didn't they have 0 yards rushing ? Yeah, that's gotta hurt... Ahhhhaaaahahaaaaaa

But for the record the fact that FSU has not lost since 2012 should have 0 influence on this season. It means nothing and is a very annoying argument.

This is the 2014 football season. Who cares about 2012 and 2013 when it comes to rankings?

Why is Waco so hard to play at? It's a new stadium. Hardly grounds for a home field or a tough place to play. Also why is the fact that Baylor rallied 21 on TCU so discredited. It's like everyone wants to say that game was essentially a tie.

Why use a committee anyway? They had a system the last years that used a math system that took everything in and spit out its rating.  The only problem was they only took the top 2 teams to play. They should just use the same system and take 4 teams. Why have an AP and USA rating when the committee is just gonna ignore it anyway. It's 12 people's opinion now which is what I thought they were trying to get away from. It's just brings back all the chaos

I respect your opinion boom, and you have a point that the champs are still unbeaten, and the committee is still in it's infancy and had a lot of stuff to bring into play, and quality of wins is a big part in the decision making

I think it's hard to say that FSU would be unbeaten if they played the same schedule as TCU, or Miss St, or Ole miss, or ANY SEC team. They are unbeaten, which is why they're still in the top 4, but they've not been impressive in a lot of their wins. Their defense is atrocious. If they played in the SEC I think they'd have an absolute minimum of 2 losses.

I see where you're coming from but personally I think I could name 10 teams off the top of my head that are better then Florida state, and if they make it to the playoff, I think they're going to get demolished.

TCU would be a slight favorite over Baylor on a neutral field. TCU is a better football team. The committee is taking into account the whole season. TCU non conference slate was a bit laughable, but Baylors was a COMPLETE F U C KING JOKE. Baylor more than a TD favorite had the more recent loss, losing by 14 to WVU. Head to head matters, but it doesnt mean everything.

Maybe we will get the SEC Champ #1 and FSU #4 and they meet up in New Orleans to find out. I would love to see it.
