Not sure what he was supposed to do there. Tell his players not to try? Kicking a FG would have been running up the score. The only play there is to run the ball, assume he goes down and clock runs out. If the defense decides inexplicably to not tackle the guy, just like those fuckers from Washington did yesterday, chalk it up to a fluke and blame the defense for not being able to stop a half-hearted run intented solely to run out the clock. If you can't stop that - you deserve to have the score run up on you, in my opinion. And yes, I did get reamed on the same thing happening in the WA game yesterday, so I get the anger....but the coach has few options in this case. You really expect an 18 year old kid to fall down and run out the clock instead of score a TD in his first bowl game? C'mon.

i had okie in a teaser so i didnt need the td. i can see why that kid wanted to score a td in a bowl game though...

Going for the 1st down is the right play...but Blake could have just dove a yard and game over....no reason for a TD there....unless you are in for a windfall.

some times i might think when i get moosed by a play----it has nothing to do with the players--WHEN AND ONLY WHEN--- its evident it has to do with the players not a play calling---we are all humans and made mistakes

Quarterback's fault. I call it the Maurice Jones-Drew effect.

You need to know that you are up by 10 points with the ball and under a minute left against a team with no timeouts left. On a 4th and 1 play, you get that yard, then you slide...game over.

He is at fault at more ways than one. While obviously there was no chance of Iowa to come back, why run any sort of risk to begin with? Why give them the ball back? You secure the 1st down and you slide. Secure the ball, the possession and the win.

For those of you accusing Stoops of running up the score..well...that's silly. The man did not send out his kicker. He went for it on 4th and 1 to secure a win. What the hell did you people want the man to do? Knee the ball and give Iowa the ball back!?

Don't overlook this and turn it into a storm in a teacup. This was a run play called on a 4th and 1 to secure a win and an arrogant, guns ablazing need to score NOW quarterback lost his sanity for 23-yards and scored.

I know your pissed but I would bet my whole bankroll everyone here crying foul and classless would be jumping up and down sucking bells beanbag for getting them the cover. They were down 21-0 going into the 4th, they had no business getting close to covering this game. Oklahoma had it in the bag, went on cruise control and said oh shit and then in garbage time Iowa cleared the path to heaven for a freshman QB who is not Bryan westbrook on MNF and going to slide vs scoring a TD! Move on fellas, there's 5 games tomorrow. I personally was fucked by Tulsa, and Miss st as well today. Move on.

I think thats what makes it so brutal...I also was on Tulsa,miss St \<Wash and ND yesterday not to mention the 2H under tonight, its not just this game for me, its the last 5 games and i know there will be mooses but this is a little too much.

Uh, yeah. You think the Miss State game wasn't a moose? Fucking hillbilly coach decides 6 seconds is plenty of time to run a play before bringing his FG unit on? Who the hell does that? You're giving 3 points away there for an extremely low probablility play. That was some of the stupidest coaching I've ever seen, on any level. And of course, it cost us the cover.

Not to mention the mixed extra point. So I am not feeling bad about getting a break in that OU game at the end. I also agree that it's tough to call it a moose when the team that wins has been covering for 70-80% of the game. Bad luck, yes...but Iowa was lucky to be in the game at that point anyway.
