Secret ref clocks

The BIG 10 has stated that all the clocks on the field and TV are actually inaccurate, and that there is a secret ref clock that only the refs can see. This special ref clock is .5 seconds more accurate than any other clock available to both viewers AND the teams on the field. Never in my 25 years of gambling have I ever heard such a thing. Curious if any of you have heard this before.
