SEC Week To Week Schedule Is The Toughest In The Nation

Not only is the SEC the best conference in the nation, their week to week schedule cannot be matched by any other conference.  Just to name a few in 2011:

Auburn: 10-1 @ S Carolina, 10-8 @ Arkansas, 10-16 (home) vs Fla, 10-22 @ LSU, (bonus), 11-12 @ GA, 11-26 (home) vs Ala.

Florida: 10-1 (home) vs Ala, 10-8 @ LSU, 10-15 @ Auburn, 10-22 Bye, 10-29 @ (Jacksonville) vs GA, (bonus) 11-12 @ S Carolina, 11-26 (home) vs Fla St

LSU: 10-8 (home) vs Fla, 10-15 @ Tenn, 10-22 (home) vs Aub, 10-29 Bye, 11-5 @ Ala, (bonus) 9-3 (Tx Stadium) vs Oregon

Tenn: 10-8 (home) vs Ga, 10-15 (home) vs LSU, 10-22 @ Ala, 10-29 (home) vs S Carolina, (bonus) 9-17 (home) vs Fla

I will stake my reputation that the SEC will not win the BcS Championship this season, If there is a website that will allow me to bet against the SEC confrence this season, Please show me the way.

are you guys watching the college world series....its looking like the SEC tournament....we dominate every sport ...EXCEPT basketball

Every sport?  How's the SEC in water polo, swimming, softball, tennis, golf, soccer, ice hockey, fencing, lacrosse, skiing, wrestling, field hockey, rowing, and volleyball?

And how is the SEC doing in academics?  You know that is what college is for, right?

There is no denying that conference play in the SEC is brutal. Any and every team in the SEC has a chance to knock you off if you dont strap it on tight and bring it every week. People only get tired of hearing this because they know its true. Don't argue with facts people.

Like I said, somebody shoot me. Here is the truth about the sec.....so alllll of you sec lovers pay close attention.

The sec has been very top heavy for about 6 years now. Other teams in thid conference like to ride the coat tail of the top heavy teams. There is no difference from the teams in this league compared to most other conferences. Plus, I've never understood why fans from this league have to pull for the other teams from this league when there team sucks.

Thats the truth....

If all you're saying is that low and mid-tier SEC teams aren't going to beat top tier teams from other leagues with any sort of regularity, sure, I'll give you that. But I would've put the SEC's #4 and #5 (South Carolina and Mississippi State) up against the 4/5 from pretty much any conference (Iowa/Illinois, Missouri/Baylor, Washington/Arizona). And I certainly would put the SEC #10 (Kentucky) up against the 10th place team anywhere. . . except for maybe the Big 12, where Texas somehow finished 10th. I'm not quite sure what to do with them. But UCLA, Minnesota, Virginia. . . yeah I'd take UK.

People just like hating on the SEC because they're top dog right now. It's the Michael Jordan effect. Think of all the people who hated him during his run. Same deal with SEC football.

Boom - I know the conference is fairly top heavy but look at the rotating National Champions. It's not like the conference is riding the coattails of a dynasty. Plus the SEC has won more National Championships then all the other conferences COMBINED. Sure the SEC is a bit top heavy but that top part seems to be better then all the other conferences top teams.

Meant #5/6. #4 was Alabama. Obviously, I might have to change the examples of #5/6 teams from other conferences, but I think that makes the point fairly well.

Guys,i have never said the sec wasnt the best overall conference....no where will you find that I said that. What I'm trying to say is....this thing is blown way out of proportion.good football is played in every conference for the most part. I just believe that the sec has been more top heavy in recent years.

And its not like your hearing this from someone out west or up north. I live in the heart of the south, believe me...i get it.

I wasn't sure whether you were just saying that the SEC is only the best because of strong top teams or that the SEC is strongest top to bottom but the difference has been blown way out of proportion by guys like thechad and the OP. We're agreed on the latter.

Arid..I'm starting my breakdown on the sec west today....and I posted that I thought it was the best side of a division in football that I've seen in a long time.

Like I said,i think this thing gets blown out the water.....hell, the sec went 0-2 vs the acc in bowl season last year. But do you here acc folks blowing the damn horn like the sec would have done? That's where I say, for the most part its blown out of proportion.

Better than it was last year? I don't think the improvement by Ole Miss (and slight upticks by Alabama and LSU) will offset the dramatic change in Auburn. Still, will look forward to reading your thoughts. Just picked up my Phil Steele so that I can hopefully have some intelligent comments for you.

Until that mouth breathing Landry leaves town, that team is not winning any real big game.

The SEC is solid, no doubt. However, outside of Florida, LSU,Bama and Georgia, the rest of the SEC is always supposed to be better than they are. Yes Auburn had a breakout year. Florida will regress more and Richt is running GA into the ground.. Tenn is crap. SC cant win tough games. The Missississippi schools are crap when thrown against quality, Kentucky and Vandy are jokes. Arkansas has been "on the brink" for like a decade now. So, Bama and LSU are you top tier and then everyone else.

I dont get what so great. Solid is as far as I go.
