Florida is probably the most talented team in the country. They will be a very good team with or without Rainey.

There is no question Florida is capable of beating Bama, but they will need to improve drastically on the offensive side of the ball over the next couple of weeks to do it. So far the Gators defense has been carrying the team on their back.
As long as each team beats the teams in their respective divisions then, in the grand scheme of things, I don't really think this game is real important for either team.

I agree. Lattimore looks like the real deal so far. Maybe someone can get a Gator fan to buy his jersey.

Yeh, Tennesse managed only 1 touchdown against Oregon. And while good, Oregons defense is nowhere near as athletic and as physically dominating as the Gators. Tennessee will be lucky to score.Their offense is horrible. I will go out on a limb and say Miami (Ohio) has a better offense than Tennessee. Matt Simms will throw 2 plus interceptions and be sacked 6 plus times. Not sure why everyone is doubting the Gators. It goes back to the Spurrier days when we would pass it 50 plus times and run the score up. Thats not how Urban plays. This is a different team. The Gators win with defense and RUSHING the ball. Thats how they have done it the last few years. It has won them two titles. Sure it isnt pretty, everyone wants to see the high flying offenses. But Urban doesnt care about pretty, he cares about wins. I dont care who they have played in the first two games. The Gators are 2-0 with an average winning margin of three plus touchdowns, thats pretty good where I come from. Throw out the first quarter of their two games when their NCAA leading 15 true freshman were getting playing time and they are outscoring their two opponents 72-16! Thats pretty good where I come from and you cant say that about any other team in college football.

I pretty much agree with your entire post. I will add that Florida has no shortage of talent, and that includes the wide receiver position. Florida is trying to break in a new QB and new receivers this year so I don't think anyone should expect them to be operating with militaristic percision at this point of the season. This is not a talent issue, this is a lack of rythm in the passing game issue. That will come with more game experience.
I also agree that the Miami-Ohio game should not be used for handicapping purposes.
Your point about Florida having a hard time with smash-mouth type teams is one that I've made on this board for several years now. If you watched the game they lost to Ole Miss two years ago, Ole Miss controlled the point of attack. I made the same point again prior to both SECCGs. In last year's game Bama's O-line was killing Florida's LBers on the second level. Supposedly Florida has been working on this in the offseason. I guess we'll see in a few weeks. I certainly wouldn't underestimate them.

I watched the game twice and Ole Miss won the battle in the trenches both times. The problem was that Ole Miss was not talented enough to take advantge of that edge without the turnovers.
Bama also won the battle in the trenches in the 1st SECCG. The difference was that Tebow played lights out (made some absolutely incredible throws), and Bama had JPW who was abysmal.
Winning in the trenches does not automatically result in a victory, but it certainly helps.

The original point is that physical football teams give Florida the most problems. I've been saying that for at least 2 full years on this board, and I stand by that.
