I had TX higher but something really bothers me about them almost losing to what I consider a very weak Ohio State team.  GL to you and your team sir.

McElroy and/or Star Jackson will be much better... just like all other Bama QBs... but they won't be right off the bat... it always takes time for a Bama QB to get the passing game going... if they don't get the passing game clicking early, they will be in trouble against any legit teams...

Bama owes the football gods some luck back. I think they led the country is 1st quarter margin. I don't think they can play from behind and I don't think they will once again go almost an entire season without losing a 1st quarter.

I see that there is going to be some great opportunities to make money fading Mississippi tis year.  This is the team that lost to South Carolina and Vandy at home last year, and at one time was 3-4.  One of the best kept secrets in wagering is to fade band wagon teams, and Ole Miss is certainly that this year.  I probably will fade them in their opener at Memphis (-17 or more), their 'Bama game (especially if 'BAma loses to VA Tech. Current line is -3) amd their LSU game (current line -6)

inclined to agree with you Bigdaddy... Ol Miss is definitely a bandwagon team this year... i do think they will be a legit SEC contender, because they have a really solid defense and Snead is the real deal... but i would be worried about some inflated lines...
 
gonna wait and see with them...
 
trouble with Bama in the opener is this... both teams have legit shutdown defenses... but only one has an offense that has played together, developed a rhythm, and even won an impressive BCS game...
 
the Tech defense will completely shut down Bama's offense... all game long... and Bama will shut down Tech's offense... not enough...
 
Tech's offense with a short field will result in points... Bama's offense with a short field is no guarantee...
 
this is quite simply a game that is too early on the schedule for Bama to win... put this midseason and i would give them a chance... but Beamer is not losing this game to start the season in a year when he has all of his pieces in place, against a team that lost a whole lot of their leadership...
 
should be a great defensive game... but i don't think it will still be competitive in the 4th quarter... 2 TD win for Tech...

OU wins it all ?.......can see the appeal.....(technically).... sooners underrated really.......still have tremendous amount of talent...especially on D....personally think last year WAS their year.....couldn't get it done vs VERY young Texas team then......IF....they lose again ......which i believe they will.....they should lose at least 1 or 2 more......cannot see them finishing strong after horn loss.....with all those (about to be millionaires).....closing out the season.
    *however...if they beat Texas.... certainly have the ability to run the table...

Georgia ?.....my man.... covers wordsmith Triple Op....simply trying to get your attention....(sometimes better to hit the beast over the head)
correct....bulldogs underachieved (10-3 playing one of toughest schedules in nation).......with 7th most starts lost /injury (44).....46 surgeries since August....
OL and DL stink ?.......true played poorly.......technically accurate .....AS  MOST  ALL  INJURED  PLAYERS  FIND  IT  DIFFICULT  TO  PERFORM  WHEN  NOT  ON  THE  GODDAMN  FIELD....
     OL-  LY returned only 1 upperclassman in 2 deep !! (Vance > and he was hurt 6th game).....finished year with 3 freshmen / 2 soph.....yet allowed only 17 sacks.....(vs very talented def fronts..).....> now basically have 7 starters back.......should be one of nations best
     DL-  best players out here also...stud DT Owens out 1st game....DE Battle hurt most of year........(MLB Ellerbe was lost game 5).....several others battled injuries all year......front 7 comes into year being among top 10 in nation...
* very odd observation .....bringing back great O & D lines meaningless in college football ??......... WTF ?...if actually  put some work in and check out talent ......# of NFL players on DL (and OL) > this would be obvious.....

"under radar" ..(kinda)  dawgs could be excellent play this year......to predict them to continue "slide" makes ZERO sense.....last 7 years Richt has won 10 games 6 times  ....finished top 10....6 times...and won SEC twice......and since 30-4 SU on road !!.....as auto fade vs (haven't done ANYTHING really)... okie st ....understandable.....but maybe unwise investment...Cox should be efficient game manager ......(as starter > has not lost a game since middle school)......RB's yes unproven but (overall) one of most (talented) groups in country > (check it out).....is Ealy eligible ?.....will check sorry dunno

'Bama........in same situation kinda as horns.....(last year really not supposed to be that good)....although few starters return.....in Saban's 3rd year they will be tough as hell to beat .......REALLY think McElroy /Ingram /Upchurch /Grant/Richardson ....can't play ?.....seriously.... step down fron JPW and company?.....although competition will be stronger.....(tenn...auburn....lsu......ark).....so will crimson tide......schedule actually much easier....
personally will be SHOCKED  if they lose to hokies.......although nothing wrong with taking hokies and 3+.... if can get it....i think that bama  D gives Tyrod and company a  SERIOUS lesson......

1. Florida- Easy choice here, hopefully someone knocks off Tebow & Co.  I think the best choice is an Arkansas upset or in Baton Rouge against LSU.  I think LSU may be flying under the radar.  Take a look at their 2 deep b/c there is a ton of talent.
2.  Texas-  Colt is back and the Longhorns will be out for blood after missing out on the title game last year.
3. Oklahoma-Bradford and the offense will be dynamic and I think DeMarco proves he is the best RB in the country this year.
4.  USC-  As much as I hate them, I got to stick them here because the track record is that they simply reload.  However, their D should be much more vunerable and I can't see them going undefeated.
5.  Penn State- As far as I'm concerned they are a great sleeper for the title game.  Lost some WR's and OL's but the D will be solid as usual and I don't think people realize how good Clark and Royster are.  The schedule is very manageable with the 2 toughest games at home (OSU and Iowa)
6. LSU-  This will be a dangerous team as the season goes on with the young guys getting experience.  Take a look at those WRs and Chuckie Scott running the ball.  If they get good QB play and better defense they will be a powerhouse.
7. Ole Miss-  Offense will be stacked with Snead and Co. but the D concerns me.
8. Oklahoma State-  Pretty much the same as Ole Miss.  Offense can only carry you so far.
9. Alabama- Top 2 or 3 on defense, just need QB to step up and manage games.  Julio Jones is a BEAST
10.  Ohio State- Pryor and Saine will be a handful but they must replace Hartline and Robiskie.  The D needs to reload as they lost a bunch of big time dudes (Malcolm and James Hepatitis )

IS COLLEGE FOOTBALL HERE YET???!!!

Wayshaun Ealey has been called Georgia's best (high school) back since H Walker...that's 30 years or so.....is eligible.....but from small school and likely to be redshirted....so not a factor maybe.....locals feel free to chime in

Ealey's pretty good. Coming out of a small 1A school ECI (Emmanual County Institute). They are, however a football juggernaut here in Georgia. I got to see him play in the Georgia Dome last year in the state championship. He wasn't much of a factor because he got hurt early in the game.

He has alot of talent, but he is definitely not near the talent/potential Herschel Walker was. Nor should he even be considered one of the top 10 backs in Georgia coming out of high school in the last 30 years. There have been too many good backs coming out of this state.

 i understand he was coming off an injury.....but in the videos i saw he didn't seem to have the explosion /power/burst that i expected to see (vs small school teams).....impressive yes.....but agreed he didn't look like even close to "best ever" type back...

Listen, this is all speculation and I will be the first to admit that I probably won't come close but I will play along for the hell of it. 1. Texas - I thought they might be overrated at first but the more I look at them, the more I think it's their year. I love Colt McCoy and I think he wills this team to a title.

2. Georgia - Bulldogs are this year's shocker, as they upset Okie State and Florida on the way to the National Title Game. One of the best offensive and defensive lines in the country and that combo can take a team a long way.

3. Florida - Gators come oh so close to back-to-back titles.

4. Oklahoma - Sooners lose out to Texas in the Big 12.

5. Ohio State - Early upset of Trojans has Pryor and Co. back in National Title hunt.

6. Oregon - I admit I'm a little bias here but if the Ducks' pass defense improves, I think they have a shot to unseat USC and make a run.

7. Virginia Tech - Frank Beamer, defense and Tyrod Taylor. Enough said.

8. USC - I hate to bet against the Trojans but if you are ever going to do it, this has to be the year. Starting in 2010, it's back to USC dominance in the Pac 10.

9. TCU - I thought they had the best defense in the country last year. The Frogs could be this season's BCS Buster with a win at Clemson on Sept. 26.

10. Florida State - Seminoles back in the national spotlight, this time for the right reasons.

Again, I don't think I will be close, just throwing some things against the wall and seeing if they stick. I won't remember this a week from now, much less five months. lol But it's all in good fun, so let's not take anything too serious.
Triple Option I have some good news and some bad news.

The Bad news is...... If you make statements like Georgia is the 2nd best team in the country.. Then People will think you are...

Hmmmm.... my 2 cents.
 
1.Texas (with a little help along the D-line & a win @ OkSt in Oct. this should be their year)
2.Florida (The most talent of all but finally get de-throned. Key injury or toughness of conf. finally catches up with them)
3.USC (Trojans are always there but Ducks or Bears will clip them this year, too many new pieces)
4.Oklahoma (love everything about them except the O-line and a loss to Texas & tough game against Tx Tech keeps them here)
5.BAMA (no Fla, no Ga, LSU at home,... hello SEC title game)
6.Penn St (Take out Ohio St @ home and the Big10 is theirs for the taking)
7.Cal (If ever there was a year this is it but @ORE & USC back-to-back - can't win both)
8.LSU (@Ga, @Bama, Fla & @Ole Miss not to mention questionable QB play)
9.Ohio St (Can you say sophomore slump? T. Pryor can..... Defense is stout but lopsided losses to SC and Penn St kill the Bucks)
10.Boise St (Knocking on the door once again... too bad your bigger brother will not let you play; loss to Ore is only blemish)
 
SO CLOSE,.... Yet SO FAR.....
-Oregon (Cal & SC at home; Boise & Utah nice out of conf wins, could potentially crack the top 10)
-Va Tech (The ACC is crap, but winning the conf. gets them here again)
-West Virginia (see ACC..... here by default.)
-BYU (if not for those out of conf. losses to Oklahoma & FSU you could'a been much higher)
-Oklahoma St (Defense, Defense, Defense - Build one, buy one, steal one, rent one for crying out loud!)
-Ole Miss (sorry,... but you have to prove it to me for more than one year, especially in that conference!)

I'm very happy, but somewhat disturbed, by the amount of respect that my Bulldogs are getting in these preseason top 10 lists.  There is nothing to suggest that Georgia will finish the season as a top 10 team outside of unproven potential.  My prediction for Georgia is 9-3 or 8-4... certainly not good enough for top 10 material.

My preseason top 10:
  1. Oklahoma
  2. Texas
  3. Florida
  4. Penn St. (more because of the schedule than how good they actually are)
  5. Southern Cal
  6. LSU
  7. Notre Dame (their schedule is easier than PSU's)
  8. Ole Miss
  9. BYU
  10. Boise St.

no doubt about the potential... in fact, Georgia experienced the same thing in 2005 when David Greene left and his perennial backup, D.J. Shockley, stepped in.  It certainly wasn't a dominating season, but it did end with an SEC Championship.


And this year, you have 2 "Ewings" leaving from UGA's team.  Does that mean double the resulting success?

I guess I've learned from too many years of listening to Larry Munson and Vince Dooley.  One of Dooley's most famous quotes came in his weekly press conference the week before Georgia played the 1-AA Richmond Spiders.  Dooley said, "Don't sleep on Richmond... they have the absolute best punter in college football today."

Also, there's this... if you always expect the worst, you can only have pleasant surprises.
