mstef - i understand what you are saying but thats why they are laying the points ...so to like the favorite you have to make sure that you like who they are playing against and being able to cover that set amount of points lol
Sorry, i just dont really understand youre meaning of that. Dont get me wrong obviously in the long run + points always have the advantage to start cuz they can win outright and you are also automatically winning at the beginning of the game, but thats why its a spread!

Kev, i understand completely what a pointspread is. It just makes me laugh at the amount of people on here that post picks always ride the chalk. I love backing a team like Oklahoma last week to bury TCU as much as the next guy, but you really have to mix it up with some underdogs on your plays or you will get trounced. I have been observing thse forums for a while. There are certain guys that make posts and have a good mix and they are the good ones. They also don't "give you" 17 games either. Those are the people you want to pay attention to on here.

- what differerence does it make, apparently you (and a few others) have some misperception that taking mostly dogs makes you more cleaver or ballsy (not sure which you think applies on overs and unders and don't care), over the long term they cover at exactly the same rate. If you take 7 good favs or 7 good dogs every week or 4 and 3, it doesn't make any difference.
- not that prior years are important (although other prior results what else does anyone have), maybe you can locate some of your clever or ballsy players (including yourself) that posted 40+ units last year playing 1-3 units (and similar results 7 of 8 years before that)
- playing for fairly serious money, I take whatever matchups I like if that's 7 favs and 3 dogs most weeks so be it. If I was playing for smaller amounts or in some cases nothing at all, I could post short dog on every TV weeknight game and 5 or 6 on Sat and be really clever
- normally have 8-10 games and 4-5 totals, some people don't play totals or may only have 5-6 games, it's not a large number of game most weeks if you take into account some play totals and some people don't
- several of the well known posters (probably some of your favorites) quit half way through last season and some this season (hint - it wasn't because they were hitting a high percentage). It sounds like making money is secondary for you, for me it's the only thing that matters.
- post your own picks (without relying on others opinions) for a year and half, show a solid profit and we'll see just how clever or smart you can be based on your own handicapping.

NOS, this is prob a very irrevelent trend, BUT I follow the Vols and I do like your play on them. On the other hand, I was making a joke this sat saying that I would bet the house on whoever plays Auburn next. BECAUSE each team that has beaten Tennessee this year has turned around and gotten surprised the following week. UCLA got completely blown out by BYU and Florida got upset my Ol Miss...both after beating UT the week before. Auburn likely to do the same???? who knows.

Well put, GL this week NOS. I like Florida, its just so hard for me to pull the trigger on it. Hard to believe Arkansas can score more than 3 points in this game and hold Florida under 50

I love your Florida and Fresno picks. You can't bet against my Cougs though. We are one of the best teams in the nation. Just kidding, but we have beaten UCLA the last two years. I'm on my Cougs this week to lose by two touchdowns. Good luck.

dowen - good point about the scheduling, don't think Auburn will overlook Vandy or have a letdown keeping in mind they read the same stuff everyone else does about how great the dores are (hopefully they're getting tired of hearing it), question is whether their offense can do enough to do anything about it
younger - had some hesitation on that one as well, indecision cost me as could have had at 21 sunday night, still decided to play it even though sandwich game. Someone could spend a lot of money trying to figure out which week Ark finally shows up or at least covers
