This line has changed for the past month. I originally got it at +3 but has slowly gone down to almost pick'im today.
Last year NT kicked a FG with 26 seconds left to win 20-17 at NT. This is a rare 1st game vs Conferences teams so it means a lot. NT has won its opener the past 5 years vs Northwestern,Houston Baptist AB Christian and Lamar. BUT UTEP last year under Dimmel UTEP went to a bowl game and lost to Fresno 31-24. Since conf USA has reorganized with teams leaving and coming they had to make this opening game a conference game. UTEP has promoted this game big time. Its there 915 sellout crowd game so they can possibly get 46,000 a sellout at home. I think the price for admission to the game is $9.15 the El Paso area code. Think they are just short but the environment will be " electric" Both team strength is there off lines. Miners do have an outstanding qb in Hardison who threw last year for threw for over 3,200 yds and had 273 yds in last years 20-17 loss. He has lost some of his wr's from last year but he has an arm and with an experienced OL protecting him he should have time to attack Mean Green defense. NT's has no experience on DL but was happy when they found out there best def player KD Davis entered the transfer portal but changed his mind and will start at LB for NT defense. NT has Burns back at WR who is top wr. Aune won the qb battle for NT and really don't think he is a good passer. After watching him at the Fricso bowl last year he had guys wide open and was under and over throwing them all day. When you are watching from row 10 and have money on your alma mater its gets personal. Plus Torry NT top rusher didn't show up to the game. It was unannounced and rumor was he was interviewing for the NFL draft and trying out suits to wear. Not even sure if he was drafted but Miami of Ohio dominated my Mean Green // anyway think Miners win this game outright and also have the best defensive player in the conference in Amaewhile. UTEP has its linebackers and db's back Awatt is a solid rb for UTEP and think Mean Green Defense will be challenged esp with no pass rush and a seasoned qb throwing downfield
915 area code could come into play if they can fill up a few thousands seats tomorrow and the crowd gets behind there Miners . Think UTEP doesn't need any points and wins outright.. Back tomorrow morning with a few more games.

UTEP +1.5 over North Texas this morning Think UTEP wins this game outright but NT is still favored . Again UTEP qb is solid and NT's pass defense is bad. NT escaped with a last second fg to win last year at home. This could be the biggest home crowd El Paso has had in years. UTEP had a good defensive player who might not play today but still think Miners at home with Hardison at qb will give them a C-USA conf win to start the season.
UTEP +3 ****
UTEP +1.5 ***
UTEP +! **
Later today
Northwestern +10.5 over Neb **
Illi -13 over Wyomong **

UTEP in 1st half looked good but NT made some 2nd half adjustments. NT was rushing 4 linemen so when they didn't realize they were getting to the passer they just rushed 3 and dropped 8 back in the 2nd hlaf. Hardison the UTEP qb is a gunslinger and can throw bullets but is very weak on touch, his pass comes in at such a speed nobody can catch it his wr's or NT's db's NT rushing game picked apart some holes in Miners defense and dominated the 2nd half. NT played zone defense and Hardison couldn't find the openings in it .He just threw fastballs and over threw them time after time. NT did a good job stopping the UTEP run game. NT's qb Aune again had wrs open and under threw or over threw them. Think next week SMU will win by the -9 and win in double digits. NT's def coach Bennett was SMoo's head coach before getting fired. But SMoo brings in a much better team then the Miners.
My bad sorry for the poor pick Like SMU next week and Houston over UTSA
