I am still very High on the Hokies ... Va Tech should be BCS Bowling again ....I Love the running game and I think Taylor should be a playmaker at times with some decent young WR's returning this year the passing game should be back around 180+ this year after 129 LY .. like both the TE's as well  ...Happy the  O-Line  is trying to be more athletic with ex TE's littered in the 2 deep...The Hokies  96 Sacks allowed the previous 2 years is a MAJOR concern vs  Bama's awesome front 7

Prediction
Should be a very Close Game with the Defense ,Field Pos.and Special Teams be Huge for the first Half ...
I think Virginia Tech Falls behind at some point in the early 2nd Half ,and is forced to pass ...
I feel the Tide will force 2+ 2nd Half Turnovers and Win by 4-7 Points ...
I am guessing the Total will be 40.5....

Thanks for asking Brother

I start by  giving each school a Point Spread Rating at the end of the Prior season ... the difference between the schools is supposed to be the win margin if any 2 Teams met on a neutral field...

During the offseason I read each Schools prospectus and spring media guide along with Steele and adjust the numbers accordingly(Spelling sucks)....

Ratings  change weekly during the season based on performance , ATS play, and possible future performance for the following week ...

Breaking down the schedules is also crucial in this process,,

hard to get over the Numbers of them being 16-30 ATS L4Yrs, and 4-10 ATS vs the SBC the L2Yrs ..

Very nice Job last year winning 6 Games 8-4 ATS and 5-2 ATS vs the SBC...
Returning 16 starters
Losing QB Micheal Desormeax and his 1035 Yards rushing yards should be crippling ///
I am not giving the Ragin' Cajuns enough credit and they will most likely climb my Rankings in the next month... That being said the schedule is Brutal and they should be a Good fade ATS at LSU, at Nebraska and the final 6 games of the season

But the Loss of QB Kinsmon Lancaster causes me to start the Year with them having a Low Point Spread Rating
The 9 starters that return on D allowed a horrible 213 Rushing yards a game ...
Should be a Good Fade for the first 5 Lined games ...

Rice was a awesome ATS sleeper for me last year .. I was really High on them going into 2008 and it paid off...9-3 ATS including 7-1 vs CUSA...
The Bowl Win over WMU was one of my Larger Bowl Plays ///
OOOONOOOO  Everyone that was Good for the Owls is Gone ..
record setting QB Chase Clement,WR Jarett Dillard and TE James Casey..along with Most of the O-Line ..The 31 Career starts returning on the O-Line is 108th in the NCAA...
There is hope with Alabama QB Transfer Nick Fanuzzi in the mix ... 
This years Owls squad will be nothing like LY... 
The schedule only has 4 winnable games IMO and I am Predicting Rice will start off the season
0-7....
Should be a excellent fade this year...
 If the Offense clicks I will bubmp the Owls up, but that's a HUGE IF...
I know the defense returns 9 bums that allowed 5.2 YPC and 269 Yards Passing

Only 4 starters return from LY record setting Offense ..
The Cardinals have had a winning ATS record for 4 years in a Row 29-14-1 Overall and 19-12 vs the MAC..
The O_line looks very green with 6 SO or FR in the current 2 deep..
Miquale Lewis and his 2000+ total yards do return ...
The defense should be decent with 7 starters returning from a unit that only allowed 20.5 PPG....
I am hoping that Ball St. starts the year with 2 easy wins over N> Texas and New Hampshire and then it should be fade time

What are your thoughts on the Minny/Cuse game?
 
It's an away game for Minny but with Weber/Decker connection, anything under 6.5-7 would be a great play in my mind. No love for the Gophers?

Minnesota should have a Huge edge in this game ... The Offense should put up some points ... I would Take the Gophers for a Standard wager of 3-4.5 Units if Laying 6 or less ...

I believe you'll get more than 21 with SDST.  I know you believe they will surprise, but not many people believe this after their 2-10 record last year and oddsmakers know this.  Look to get at least 24 pts.
 
Why do you really like Bama in this match-up? 
We all know this will be a defensivly dominated game as both defenses are great to say the least.  However, the Bama offense poses less of a threat than the VaTech offense (specifically Tyrod Taylor), hence Bama will have a more difficult time shutting down the VaTech offense than VaTech shutting down the Bama offense.  I believe Taylor will be the difference maker that Bama will struggle containing.
