congrats to all Pitt backers last night  We should have known we jinxed our S Florida pick when the writeup was typed wearing one of our favorite PITT T SHIRTS  Pitt was so much the better team it was an official SMOKESHOW.

NW 8-3L11 vs Illinois and 4-1L5 away - ATS.....They get a ton of players back for the B10 opener including at least some duty from the man himself - Dan Persa - although its the other guys like Trumpy Smith and Dinardo that have us more intruiged - and an extra wk off - Illinois is good but both games played vs actual football teams were 3 pt games and they are similar to NW in that they are a run first team - cant see them running away and hiding from NW....As a 10 pt conf dog you just need to see some little things - and besides what is noted above - special teams may help as NW is 25 in net punting 8 in KO returns while Illinois is in the bottom 3 in the Big 10 in net punting KO returns and punt returns. Our power ratings say 6 or 7 for a fair line.

MEGALOCKS INC'S own HOT CARL is a poop tingling 1-0 this yr after a miraculous IOWA comeback vs Pitt....Now he looks to play the better team with the better QB and better coach and for the first time in a while - potentially a better D. They are also 8-2L10 ATS at Ohio St. Ohio St is last in the Big10 in passing. They dont have an out of control running game or freak QB this yr so we think Sparty does them like a gentleman would - nice and easy.
