Mich. St at Oregon

Tough spot for Sparty???  How so???  This is an absolutely ideal spot for Michigan State.  Other than playing at home, I'm not sure how the spot could be much better.

As I have said 10 billion times on this forum, when a good defensive team has extra time to prepare for a gimmick offenses matchup, the extra time heavily favors the defense,  We see this consistently play out over and over again.  That's exactly the situation we have here, and thus this matchup heavily favors Michigan State.

I will laugh if I can get double digits at the time when I can actually bet real money.  And because I think Sparty will win this game straight up, I'll be all over the ML as well.

 

Good to see some MSU backers in this thread the last few days.  

I also think the line will drop.

 

Oregon finds it's O in a BIG way against Sparty...

I didn't realize Sparty was a 14 point dogs.I agree with Jimmy.Take Sparty ML & points plus this will be a good 6point tease for me and of course an in game wager.Mich st has a long history over under performing in these big games, but the eye ball test tells me Sparty all day

Oregon is hard to beat at home. Not sure of the last out of conference team to come into Oregon and pull one out.  I expect Oregon to win, but Mich St. will cover.

Um....Mich St definitely covers and probably wins.

Great D is what is needed to win on the road
Great D usually excels in any weather. Bad weather makes offense harder to execute.
Fan noise affects offense much more than Defense

Great Offense vs. Great Defense usually = Defense wins. Not 100% but darn close.

On top of all that Sparty Offense will be much improved AND they have a very talented all around rFrosh behind...or pushing the starter...who took the helm by force (good play that is)  and didn't disappoint and was Rose Bowl MVP.

Oh BTW  Phil Steele did point out that Mich St has been producing NFL QBs under Dantonio.  (Drew Stanton, Brian Hoyer & Kirk Cousins) not bad.  Now under 2nd year co-OCs & 2nd year basically mistake free as a young now veteran QB.

and D-UP was right .....a terrible SPOT for Michigan St
   *off one of the best seasons in school history....now an early
     road game in one of the nation's toughest places to play
   *Ducks return with something to prove for sure...off a terrible
     finish

*In 2013 Sparty was the first B10 team since 1943....
   to emerge conf play undefeated and win each game by DD

WHY.....are the Ducks so tough to stop?
  *great execution
  *pace/ tempo
       AND if a great running QB too ...a 5th 'E' gap to defend
       Saban / Smart haven't figured it out yet....

Problem?....you can't simulate what they do in 2-3 days of practice
  *you have to (usually) run 2 groups at your D...so teaching their
    O to 22+ guys......most D's don't have the depth to keep up for
     4 quarters

BUT....as that Freak mentioned..the Ducks have been exposed when teams have time to prepare...embarrassing really

  $$ So...since 2009...when facing even a reasonably tough and RESTED D... the Ducks have not moved it well at all...not one time that I can find...
       *in fact...vs Tree / bowl games /vs rested top D's the Ducks are 45-141 on 3rd down (31.9 % / about #114 LY)

If Oregon only puts up 31 they are gonna be in trouble.

Will be watching this game but decided not putting any substanial money on it. Keep flip-floping back and forth. IF State's D is as good as last year and the offense is steady and doesn't turn the ball over, State covers. IF Ducks crack that defense the flood gates might open and it's a runaway.

For me, best to just watch this one.

A legit defense with a running game vs. a gimmick offense who can't stop the run... and they are getting DD... yea!

I love Oregon but +13 Im taking MSU. Possibly larger than normal. Oregon can win by 7 but physical Ds have their #. They are a finnesse team

What do you mean "Where will the offense come from for Mich St?" They have a returning QB that got better and better as the year went on (some peoples dark horse heisman candidate), they return their RB(led B10 in Rushing TD), all of their WR corp, starting Center and LT.
