This was not a good bet on either side IMO opinion before the game. How could you take Miami with 2 frosh QBs on the road in a weekday game? Home field advantage is huge on weekday games. Not a Great Play for The Game of the Year! LOL

46-34-3 ATS YTD(i have a play pending tonight I am on CMU+7.5 so that will change my record after tonight)...This is a 3.5 unit play my biggest play this year...I have only played 1-2 unit plays this year so far thats why I dont mention units in my threads...I am not telling you to make this your biggest play if your on the same side as me,to each his own in sports gambling!!..To me this is the right line ,the the right matchup, at the right time
I want to start by saying I want to say I love what both of these coaches have done with these programs..Win or lose this game and no matter what happens the rest of the season Coach Johnson deserves ACC coach of the year IMO !!!
On to the matchups @ QB: Miami is bringing in Robert Marve(6'1 203 r.FR)....He has 1041 yards in the air on the year with a 7TD-10Int ratio he is completing 53.6% of his passes...Marve is a decent scrambler he has 2 TD's on the ground and he has the 2nd longest run from scrimmage on the team this year 43 yards...Jacory Harris who we will see a little bit of has a 7TD-3Int ratio with 701 yards and 59% completion...Their both young and with a chance to go to Tampa on the line this a huge game for these young guys and to see how they handle it will be interesting...But the problem isn't them in the air as much as the dropped balls by these Miami recievers!!! They are dropping fundamental catches and it is hurting the team especially in 3rd and long situations...Georgia Tech brings in Josh Nesbitt(6'1 214 Soph.) who is questionable and I have heard he probably won't play and that will be a huge factor for Tech if he doesn't...I think he's a tough kid and comes out and gives it a shot but who knows...He has 615 yards in the air 2 TD's and 6 Int's so far...He has done an amazing job guiding this offense running the option...He has 498 yards and 6 Td's averaging 4.0 per carry and that is a reason he is banged up right now...They talk about GTU can't pass the ball but Nesbitt will shock you when you least expect it and make a big pass, don't sleep on him, he's a great athlete and they need him bad in this game...Jaybo Shaw(6'0 190 Fr.) the back up is a liabilty if he starts IMO and Tech is in trouble..He is a tough kid and doesnt mind taking a hit...But he is a young and inexperienced..I saw him play twice..He came in for an injured Nesbitt vs. Miss St. and did a great job, even threw a TD pass and made some nice runs...It was totally different vs. Florida St...The offense loss all momentum when he came in for Nesbitt and almost loss the game...If he has to start or if Nesbitt leaves due to his bad ankle GTU is in trouble...I think at some point he will develop into a good QB but not this week not this game!
RB's: Miami has Javarris James(6'0 215 Jr.) who has 188 yards averaging 4.8 per carry and 2 TD's this year..He has struggled with injuries this year and finally appears as close to 100% as he can be...He had a big TD run in the red zone vs. Va Tech last week...Graig Cooper(6'0 202 Soph) is super fast, he has 686 yards 4 TD's averaging 4.9 per carry...Now that James is healthy this a solid duo...GTU brings in the best RB in the ACC Jonathan Dwyer(6'0 230 Soph) he has 1056 yards 8 TD's averaging over 6 per carry averaging 105 yards per game!! Their A-Back Roddy Jones is also averaging over 6 per carry....GTU loves to run this is what they do and the option is what this offense loves to run off of, but they do it their best with Nesbitt behind center. They are averaging 250 yards per game on the ground!!!
Recievers: Well this will be short..Miami best reciever isALdarius Johnson(6'2 215 Fr.) who has 27 catches 286 yards and 3 TD's..There is 8 guys with 10+ receptions on the team but they are a young group with ALOT of dropped passes..GTU has a guy who I know will be playing on Sunday's despite being in a option offense..Demaryius Thomas(6'3 230 Soph) has 33 catches 559 yards and 3 TD's...If they need a big catch 90% of the time this is who it's going too...All the attention goes to their run game, but he is the best reciever on the field Thursday night between both of these teams.
O-Lines and defesne: Tech is only allowing 16.1 points per game Miami 21 ...Miami only allows 2.9 yards per carry and Tech allows 3.5... Look Tech's defensive line is amazing led by Vance Walker and Michael Johnson too of my favorite college players to watch and they are going up against a a young improved Miami O-Line...THere are alot of play makers on both defenses and it should be so fun to watch them go up against these offenses.
Time to wrap this 3.5 unit play up....Listen the option for Tech is great but if any D-Coordinator in the ACC can prepare for it Miami's Bill Young maybe the guy...No the wont completely shut it down with or w/o Nesbitt(Dwyer will make his plays) but he has the side-line to side-line speed to help contain...Listen Bill Young can prepare guys for any offense IMO,he's been around as a DC for awhile look him up(Ohio St. Kansas,USC,Oklahoma)...GTU is going to force Marve to throw a pick no doubt about it,their defense will be very prepared as well for Miami..But a big difference is GTU O-Line is BANGED UP...This O-Line is literally held together by band-aids....IF and when GTU needs to go the air they have a tough tought time protecting the QB and that will make a big difference in this game...Right now the more healthy Miami O-Line will have their hands full no doubt about it wit ha team taht averages 8 tackles for loss per game!! but GTU O-Line is in shambles right now(3rd and 4th stringers in there)...A big thing will be field position...Travis Benjamin for Miami leads the ACC in punt return yards(11.5 yards per return), GTU is 7th in the ACC in punt return defense they are struggling..People dont think this will matter much but trust me it will, because there will be alot of defensive stops and lots of punts and field position will be huge in this game!!!While we are special teams:Alot of field goals in this game I think..ANd Miami kicker Bosher is hitting 88% of his field goals...GTU kicker Blair is hitting 53% of his field goals and is 0-7 beyond 40 yards!!! This is HUGE in this game!!! GT is+3 in turnovers Miami is a -5 this year also important....Georgia Tech has lost 5 of their 7 Thursday nights on ESPN and Miami is 13-1 alltime on Thursday night games!!...The Canes are also 9-4 as away dogs since '03 and are 4-0 ATS on the road this year... Special teams, field position, turnovers huge here... Biggest play thus far for me this Ncaa-FB season... Miami+3.5 for a 3.5 Unit Play!! BOL guys!!!
great write-up, stats and opinion.
