First off this will definetely be a no play for me.
I will attempt to play devil's advocate as an LSU Tiger fan as I definetely saw some weaknesses that were exploited by
Tulane
Tulane had more success on offense than any other team this year particularly in the 1st half when they outgained LSU's offense until the final few minutes. They ran a lot of misdirection plays to use the aggressive defnesive style LSU plays against them. In the end they did not have enough speed or athlete's to compete with them. I expect Meyer to watch the game tape and use a player like Tebow and his athleticism to do similar types of plays on offense.
Flynn will need to play an A game. I do not think he has played very well this season and it is only being overlooked because the team is winning with defense and the ground game. His accuracy seems to be a little off and I find he locks into one receiver. If he plays poorly then LSU will not be able to exploit one of Florida's weakness which is their secondary play.
The Tigers will not be able to win this running right, left and up the middle. Miles tried this approach against Auburn last year and it bit him in the ass.
A close friend has heard wispers that Perriloux may actually get the nod this week although i have no link to substantiate this information.
Again I think this is a tricky line at -8 as I Think this game is decided by 7-10 points. This will not be a repeat of what we saw against Va Tech as they did not have enough offense.

Flynn/Perriloux - either way, I could go out there and complete passes against that UF secondary. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt until I saw the Auburn game....they made Cox look like an All-American.
Good thoughts though...don't think I will play this either unless it creeps below 7.

Florida all the way. Laying 8.5 seems to be crazy in any game with all this parody, but laying 8.5 to a top 10 team coming off a loss seems nuts to me.

I think the student Tim tebow is tired. Last year he played good and run the ball well because he was playing a few times then go out and Leak will play for him.
This year tthere is no Leak. He has to play full game. I think they lose big to lsu and i think they lose just because they dont put away Ole miss early. I see Tim Tebow play the game and he run for many yards. Like 200 i think. Then he threw for many more yards.
This made him tired and he can not do this again when auburn came to florida.
Now they go to LSU. I dont think he runs. If he runs, they knock him out good.
I know people say this before and he end up running for big yards.
But last time he had Chris leak to help him not get tired. This time Cris leak is gone and is not allowed to help him.
If he runs he will get injury and not finish game. But this scares me because Newton his friend is also very good.
I think florida is tired after very hard ole miss game, then very very hard auburn game now they face very big lsu defense.
I think lsu beats florida very good..

I'm definitely laying off this game. I just don't know what to think about Florida. My head says that Tebow is getting tired and beat-up, and Florida was exposed by Auburn, and to some extent by Old Mrs., too.
Some of us among those who've followed the SEC for a long time fully expected Florida to have anywhere between 2-4 losses this year, for the exact reason that Florida just wasn't that much better than everybody else in the SEC. (Plus they have a freshman QB, plus they don't play exceptional defense, plus they seem to have a chronic condition where they play down to lesser teams and lose when they have no business losing... like they should have done to Vandy and S. Carolina last year.)
I think LSU -10 sounds about right, but I think Florida could win SU, if they get the right bounces. LSU has been more consistent, and they're playing in Death Valley, which is worth a few points, too. Of course, Les Miles is always good for an embarrassing loss or two, so there's another wildcard.
The bottom line for me is that this is a no-play. Two good teams, LSU should probably win, but there are too many variables to make it a reliable play one way or the other.

LSU is great, Florida is good, I'm leaning the Tigers here right now as I had the line opening at 11, I'm surprised it is sitting at 8 right now, I don't generally back LSU because I don't ever win games on or against them, I have never been any good betting on or against LSU, just one of those teams that always burns me for some reason

tebow has got to be banged up..i dont care who you are this dude keeps taking his hits...and he got hit up pretty big against auburn now he has to go to death valley and face the number 1 defense that has revenge all of it and the game every single tiger fan has been waiting for..florida is in for a big one

Little different coming off a loss playing against MWC teams, but impressive stats nonetheless.
It is SU. dont know the ATS on that.
Sure, he was playing against MWC teams (and MAC while at bowling green) , but wasnt his squad made up of MWC players? He might have had easier teams to play, but his squad was made up of similar talent. Sure the level of talent is greater in the SEC, but his squad is comprised of SEC players.
This shows me that he can squeeze the most out of his players, regardless of at which level he is coaching. Right? And after a SU loss, he hasnt lost in 5 years

while the fla offense vs the lsu defense will get the lion share of the discussion , its the fla defense that will be the deciding factor in this match-up. fla's secondary will be exploited but it will be there inability to stop the rushing attack of lsu that will lead to the spread cover for the tigers.this is a mismatch .

BustinPiles, what's up my man? You make alot of great points in your write up. One thing I did notice in that LSU/ Tulane game. To have a kick off at 11 am in New Orleans was just plain stupid. I noticed both Matt Flynn and Ryan Perrilouux both missed alot of wide open receivers in that game.
Personally I think Tim Tebow is nothing more then a glorified RB playing QB. I do beleive LSU'd defense will shut himn down sat night. I'll wait and see what the line does closer to game time.

As crazy as it sounds I think the line is light. Not enough points here to take UF.
As for the matchup, I still dont know what to make of LSU. I gave them a pass with the SC game because of the conditions and the injuries. Tulane? LSU did not show up to play. So now you have to wonder which LSU team will show up, how injured are key players, IE Flynn, Arnold, Doucet, McCray, etc.
I think the LSU defense will be fine. If LSU opens up the playbook that they hid after the VT game, LSU could cover.

This game comes down to one thing and that is turnovers. Look at last years game and you will see basically an even game except that LSU had 5 turnovers and that is the reason that Fla won. It will be hard for us(Fla) to win this game without getting some gifts. I think the team with a +2 or 3 turnover ratio takes this one...I just hope that Lsu comes through like they did last year and gives us the ball.

To some extent I agree with you, but his ability to bounce back in the MWC and MAC were due largely to vastly superior talent via recruiting. While his talent at UF is superior as well, it is not vastly superior.
I agree it is an impressive stat, I was just qualifying it by stating it is a "little different" in the SEC. Could still be relevant, just not as relevant.
Thanks for the info though. It is very useful info.

Not to beat a dead horse on this subject, but he never really coached any of "his" recruits at Utah nor bowling green.
When he came to utah, the recruiting was already done for that year. all the committments had been secured. the following year he did get some recruits, but they were all incoming freshman or jc transfers. Alex Smith was not one of Meyers recruits. Eric Weddle was not one of his recruits either.
Anyway.
