Jimmy what did the Ole Miss loss tell you about the Alabama football team?? I personally didn't watch the game but have seen Ole Miss play and they are the closest thing to a complete football team as I've seen this year. The other three teams being Ohio St, Clemson and to a lesser degree Oklahoma. I noticed that Ole Miss was able to burn the Alabama defense on several explosive plays. Is this something that concerns you being that Clemson has just as an explosive offense as Ole Miss? Ole Miss ranks 2nd in the nation on explosive plays while Clemson ranks 5th. Would like to hear your thoughts as the Alabama defense has proven that they can be beat on big plays if the opposing offense is capable. Alabama ranked 71st in allowing explosive plays this year.

There is one play on this game Alabama minus the points or sit back and root for Clemson. The only way Clemson wins this game is if it turns into an ole miss type of game. Alabama turns the ball over and Clemson makes plays that you talk about for another 10 years.

HERMES, if you ever listen to me, listen to me here.  Get as much money as you possibly can on Alabama.  This game is a complete class mismatch.  Alabama is going to completely dismantle this team in every way possible on national television.  At no time will your bet be in peril.

I understand your question about the Ole Miss game, and I may say a bit arrogant when I say this even though it's not meant to be so, but the Ole Miss game has absolutely nothing to do with tonight's game except to say, if anything, tonight's azz whoppin' will be worse because of it.

That said, Alabama gave Ole Miss the game.  Out of five turnovers, only one could you possibly say was forced by Ole Miss.  Moreover, Ole Miss only hit one legitimate big play for a touchdown , and that was the 24-yard touchdown pass to Treadwell in the 4th quarter.

The 66-yard touchdown pass to Quincy Adeboyejo was not even intended for him.  It should have been a pick 6, but the Alabama defender didn't see that ball, and it ricocheted off of his helmet to Adeboyejo.

The 73-yard touchdown pass to Cody Core was the Gus Malzahn illegal pop-pass play where the offensive linemen go downfield to draw the secondary out of coverage, and then pop the pass to the wide open, uncovered receiver.

Here's a snapshot of Ole Miss' scoring drives in the game:

FG - 2 yards (Bama fumbled opening kickoff)
    TD - 26 yards
    TD - 18 yards
TD - 87 yards ( This is the play that should have been a pick-6 but was the head bounce pass TD)
    FG - 49 yards
    FG - 51 yards
TD - 82 yards (This was the illegal pop-pass with lineman 7 yards downfield that wasn't called)
    TD - 31 yards

What I thought after the game is that Coker is definitely the QB, and that if Alabama doesn't clean up the turnovers and penalties, this is going to be a long season for the Crimson Tide.

Exactly!!!  If you like Clemson, root for them, but whatever you do, don't bet on them!!!

Damn Jimmy you really are that confident!! BOL to you man!! Another great year capping! My Clemson bet is already in there and I feel good about it as I feel it will be closer than the experts predict based on my numbers and things I look at. However all the best to you again! You're insight is one of the few that actually is worth a damn on this forum. Have a great winter, this bowl season has been fun!

    Jimmy- hope all is well.

Were you on Bama against tOSU and OU in the past two bowl games?  How would you consider your capping has changed if so for this particular game.

I'm having trouble on this one- I have little faith in Coker against a good defense.  Guy can't hit the side of a barn unless its a mile open and definitely only has one read.  But on the other side, I don't trust Venables in big games (from watching OU play for years as a Horns fan) and was heavy on Florida when he was last in the big game.

What my bets were in previous games has absolutely nothing to do with tonight's game.  But if you really must know, I was on Alabama versus Oklahoma, and on the OVER versus Ohio State (which was a winner before the final seconds ticked off of the 3rd quarter clock).

How has my handicapping changed?  It hasn't, except I would like to think it has improved since then.

I have given you five winning bets on tonight's game.  Take the money, or leave it on the table.

    • Success Rate: A tool used to measure efficiency by determining whether every play of a given game was successful or not. The terms of success in college football: 50 percent of necessary yardage on first down, 70 percent on second down, and 100 percent on third and fourth down.
    • IsoPPP: An explosiveness measure derived from determining the equivalent point value of every yard line (based on the expected number of points an offense could expect to score from that yard line) and, therefore, every play of a given game. IsoPPP looks at only the per-play value of a team's successful plays (as defined by the Success Rate definition above); its goal is to separate the explosiveness component from the efficiency component altogether

I believe I may have seen you say you think Clemson will keep it close 1st half, but seeing that you are confident enough for a -21 bet, do you have any feel on the 1st half? Alabama ML or laying the -3.5? Good luck sir

totally spot on...way more All-Americans-and don't forget, they're seriously pissed off waiting a whole year for the only game they care about....they will not let up either after what OSU did then and how fast Clemson can score...

When you see Super Bowls fade the side which has a weaker side ex: Broncos defense 2 years ago was way worse than Sea's Offense...and the Sea Defense outplayed Denver and Peyton...

Alabama's offense is better than even a month ago...

knowing Jimmy, he isn't even nervous yet but he should be

Watson is the best player on the field per usual, if he stays healthy this will go right down to the wire with both teams having a chance, Clemson is at worst as good as Bama from what everyone in the world has seen thus far, maybe Bama adjusts and shuts them down now but in that first half, Clemson is about even or slightly above Bama

interesting to see what 2nd half adjustments are made and who can stay healthy, that Bama QB is a joke just like most thought, he's terrible and Clemson defensive ends are owning that Bama line

I'm done as I had Clemson first half, was scared to bet them for the game and still not sure if they win but certainly sure they are a every bit as good
