I saw the same thing on a very reliable website for college football coaches .And he will coach in the Bowl game
Pitt: We have learned that Pitt offered the job to Mario Cristobal last night. Cristobal, we are told, asked that they pause the discussions until after FIU's bowl game (Tuesday night). Class move.
Like R.J., I believe that this favors FIU's motivation. I'm sure that senior playmakers Wesley Carroll and T.Y. Hilton would love to send Mario out a winner.

His kids know and will play hard tomorrow not just for him but for the program that he has built. This game means a lot to the FIU program and they will showcase their "hidden" talent on national tv tomorrow night. Marshall has been a roller coaster program all year and I really don't see anything changing tomorrow. Coach will use his exit in his speech prior to the game tomorrow.

The only thing that has me worried is it seems everyone is on FIU which never bodes well. If the line moves down even with the public pounding FIU it might be a play on Marshall. Have you watched this Marshall team play this year, i just don't see them doing anything offensively vs. this FIU D. Starting to like the under the more I look into this one.

I have been on Covers touting Mario Cristobal as an excellent head coach for 3 years now, and have bet on FIU frequently over that period of time. Before the season began (or early in the season can't remember exactly which) I posted that I was surprised that some prominent programs had not taken notice of this guy. I guess we now see that they have.
Cristobal taking the Pitt job is very interesting given that he was born, raised and pretty much lived his whole life in the Miami area. He played at the U and played Alabama for the national championsip in the 1993 Sugar Bowl. Other than a brief stint at Rutgers, he has lived, played and coached his entire life in the Miami area, and there is a gigantic difference between Miami and Pittsburgh. I wonder how he'll adjust?
Cristobal is an icon in the Miami area, and yes his players absolutely love him. I'm quite sure the players already know he took the Pitt job, but if they don't, they will before kickoff. I agree with RJ & 29 that winning one for Cristobal will be a gigantic motivating factor for the FIU players. That said, Marshall is also very, very motivated to get a bowl win.
I have Marshall in all of my confidence pools, but was not planning on betting this game. Like nc1capper I think I'll stick to my guns and sit this one out. I will make a small play on Louisiana Tech if I can get +10 or better without buying it up.

although it just makes this game even more of a no-play than ever.... *and that Zoot was right....if "buddies" know ....everybody knows...or thinks they know...
*unless ALL parties involved are SINGLE
I lean Marshall myself.......but the slight chance that FIU wakes up because Mario is leaving...means back off more than anything...beware the halftime speech (if FIU is down).....or emotional pre-game speech....if he feels it needed..... *I guarantee you if FIU is down ....he tells em at halftime
*FIU only starts 4 seniors so maybe a negative effect....as most all are coming back....so they just might be pissed
It is better to be feared - than to be loved.

I don't know how Cristobal leaving has any bearing on the players at all. Are you saying they WEREN'T going to play hard, but now that he's leaving them, they're GOING to play hard? I'm not sure where the logic is in this statement. College football players are going to play the game hard when they step onto the field. If anything, I would think the underclassmen that are left would be pissed!
Good luck with your theory, I just don't see much to it. This is not to say FIU won't win OR more importantly cover....these are two lousy teams.

The play is FIU or nothing. Who bets on a Marshall team that struggled to beat one of the worst teams in college football in Memphis. Marshall isn't impressive on offense or defense. Very unpredictable football team. And as far as edges on outgoing coaches, it's on the team they play if the kids love the coach, not against. Betting on mediocre unpredictable football teams is a losing strategy.
