Seth...If you are so sure UH is gonna hang 60 plus, then why in the HELL would you not play the team total? Rice scored 31 vs Baylor and lost by 25. UH's defense is every bit a shitty as Baylor's. One thing to keep in mind is that a front will be coming through Houston Thurs night, so wind and rain may be a factor.
OH SHHITT...
Houston, TX Thursday:
27 | 11 °C
Chance of T-storms
40% chance of precipitation
Houston, the over might have a problem

Houston has no defense. Marshall put 28 pts on them and Rice is better than them Houston is going to have to keep scoring in the 60's to just cover. My take is go over the total here no problems. Forget the line.

weather is a tricky thing. i remember when my friend sat randy moss and tom brady against the titans in the snow a few years ago and i think it was 55-10 and moss/brady had 40 ff points each

I went through the numbers myself, and see this one as being 51-20. Take it for what it is worth, but based on that, I think this number isn't that far off.

The Over is truly the better bet--having watched Houston play this year, I can see their defense is really really bad ---and as far as weather playing into the passing game (40% chance of rain) is a non factor unless your hoping for a wet t-shirt contest to break out. Rice can score on this Houston D and Houston can score quicker than Jessica Simpson as Daisy Duke at a Longshoremans Union meeting---break out the oxygen for these offenses and figure out how to spend your winnings while watching this scorefest....

Be careful of games like these. Houston and Rice are both in Houston and since they are neither big time programs, a ton of their players come from high schools in Houston. This game seems to motivate Rice players more than it does U of H.
Last year Rice beat the favored Cougars 34-31.The Owls were 1 - 5 going into that game and then proceeded to lose the next 3 after that game.
I would feel a whole lot better taking the Coogs team total over 43ish (im guessing that will be close to the number)
For the record I still believe the Coogs will blow them out. Probably in the second half.

I remember 11-24-2007 The over/under for Rice vs Tulsa was 70 something. The forecast called for rain and wind all day with a tornado warning at some point. I was all over the under. All over it. The final was 43 - 48.

not saying Houston is a great bet or that i will be on it... but as a general rule, i find that when people are afraid to lay a number, thinking it is too big... it usually means it isn't too big!
people saying "why isn't this line higher?" i would say... this is Houston! Houston laying 27 to anyone anywhere is a very big line, no matter how you slice it... we aren't dealing with Stanford here... Houston doesn't get to lay 30 points to teams better than the likes of New Mexico... this line is right, so all you have to do is cap the game!

Keenum faced them 2 years ago...injured last year...
59-0 at halftime....Mercy might save the Rice Krispies...
Problem is Houston has a no mercy style of offense. When Keenum and the starters get pulled, the backups only know how to run the same no huddle throw it down your throat offense, plus the coaches want to see how the backups handle the no huddle air raid style offense. When they played last week up 40 in the 4th, they played as if they were trailing. Besides, with the weak schedule, Houston knows the only way to help themselves is to try to run up the score as much as possible. UH 64 Rice 17
