Army on the road is a tougher road game than any Boise will play all season.
disagree, nevada is a much better team than army and is the most difficult game left on the broncos schedule...i dont care what people say but the va tech/boise game this year was not on a neutral field, not sure how people can even say that since boise had to travel nearly 2400 miles....a true neutral field game is played between texas and oklahoma

No question that Boise should be given credit for their win against VT, but they still did not play the game in Blacksburg. Vegas considers Boise, and Blacksburg as the two biggest homefield advantages in college football. So while playing the game at FedEx conferred more advantages to VT than it did to Boise (if for no other reason the travel involed), the crowd at FedEx is much more of a corporate crowd, not a heavy student crowd like you would see in Blacksburg. Moreover, this was Boise's first game of the season so the travel effects were minimal.
Hawaii, on the other hand, had to travel over 4,000 miles and 5 time zones in the middle of the season when the travel really hurts you.
Yes, Boise's toughest road test is the Nevada game, but the travel from Boise to Reno is rather tame, and they will be playing Nevada when Nevada is coming off of a short week. A midseason trip to New York in the middle of the season with no bye weeks before or after the trip is a much tougher trip than traveling to Reno.

Boise sure as heck wasnt flying around the field with a quick top ranked defense against Tech...I watched the entire game and didnt come away impressed, in fact if they were playing anyone decent it woulda been a very close game...Im not saying Hawaii will win ore even cover this week, im just saying Boise isnt all that powerful or really all that impressive, at least against Tech. ..Ive seen great defenses before (Boise doesnt have it)...You can throw all the stats u want out there but I wasnt very impressed

Hawaii regularly practices at 7 am. They've been doing it since June Jones took over the program in 1999 and the schedule has been continued by the current staff. Hawaii +23 for me. It will be a lot closer than people expect.

Some injury updates from today's staradvertiser:
Pilares sat out of practice yesterday with a strained left hamstring. Still expects to play. Even if he doesnt play, his backup is senior slotback Dustin Blount who has shown flashes of greatness this year. I've been to all the home games and watched/been to all the road games for the past 3 years, and this guy is good.
He is buried on the depth chart behind all-star Pilares, but he plays special teams as our KR and PR. According to the article, he can run 100 in 10.4 (no official 40 time) and although he is only 5-5, he can dunk. Supposedly a Youtube video shot by fellow WR Royce Pollard is online. He also caught 85% of the passes thrown to him this season which ranks highest among UH WRs. I would love to see Pilares on the field as he has potential NFL talent but Blount is no slouch.
On D, SS Spencer Smith is due back from a forearm fracture suffered during the Army road game. Has been chomping at the bit to get healthy to play and has been targeting the Boise game. His replacement, Richard Torres, has been awesome, and cant be sat. So the coaches are trying to figure out a way to get Smith back on the field as he was voted the team's top special teams player in 2008 and top defender in 2009. Make no mistake, his presence on this trip will be a HUGE boost for morale for the team. Just having him as depth will help tremendously.
LG Brett Leonard is dealing with a knee injury and is not travelling with the team. Not good for O-line depth. MLB George Daily-Lyles is questionable with an ankle injury but hasnt played the last couple of games. He is a good Frosh LB and special teams player but Aaron Brown has played effectively in his absence.
Whatever happens I'm looking forward to this game. I am a homer but I still think this year's version of the UH team has a fighting chance at Boise (unlike in years past). Used to always strongly fade UH at Boise but this year, I'm taking the points. UH's early season struggles have fine tuned this team where they are peaking at the right time. I think Boise is a touch overrated this year as they havent played up to their potential as in years past. I haven't seen the blowout victories and killer spirit. Still think the Fiesta Bowl BSU team would rip this year's squad. Just hope for a clean and well played game on both sides.
