I would venture to guess the locker room shenanigans go on at 85%+ schools. Not joking at all. Played hockey in college, like 95% of 18-20 yo’s are immature as f*** and think that perverted stuff is hilarious. The other 5% get super uncomfortable but keep their distance and never say anything. Then every once in a while it blows up. Not the first story like this and won’t be the last. 

Always drama with this guy, while everyone else I know on COVERS.com is respectful as can be     Absolutely the true “Jerry Springer” of  covers lmao, and it’s never about his poor capping…. LongHornHoser, pal, the season isn’t even close to beginning…why you KEEP sending all of US away??

 It's obvious Fitz knew, stuff is on white boards and this seems to have been part of class tradition. It's probable he didn't think it was an issue or didn't pay it much attention because he was focused on, well, losing football games. 

It's hard to compare to Sandusky, who is a serial predator and used not only his coaching job but his charity to take advantage of kids. Pure evil stuff. It's realistic that people would be suspicious but predators like this often go undetected or uncaught. Undetected because it takes a lot for people to get over the hump (sorry) to accept what they think may be happening. Look at Nassar (hope he dies from the jail attack), Michigan Dr Anderson ($490M settlement), and OSU Dr ($40M) JUST to name a few in the Big Ten East alone. Not to mention Paterno was well into senility by the year 2000...

Hazing probably happens at a lot of places, and this did seem over the top. What I don't get is why you allow that to fester. If your goal is to win games and recruit good players, nobody is gonna be down with getting dick slapped because their name is on the white board. So good riddance, they have been awful anyway.

Now, I wrote earlier I'm in under 3.5. it's feasible to me that this type of thing is a wheels come off scenario - yeah a few players penned a letter, but do we really think everyone on that locker room is pissed this is getting exposed? They might beat Howard by showing up but give me Rutgers in week 1 and let's take the points with UTEP. By the time Duke rolls around adjustments will be clear and this team will get rocked, Duke is already much better (14 sounds right to me ^) without the surrounding turmoil

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that 11 players during Smart's tenure remained with the team after women reported violent encounters to the police or university. The newspaper did not identify the 11 players and referenced incidents involving three players.

I tend to agree with this...with everything going on in society today are we surprised that this type of behavior goes on? Its encouraged and endorsed by mainstream media, culture, etc...I am young, but old school to an extent. both are bad. I am sick of the gay agenda being jammed down our throats constantly, with the only position being "accept it or else"...pedophilia is next...its already happening in europe and australia... (they are just born that way, that is the fetish they are into, its okay if the kid "concents")...yes, research it...dark times for sure. And there is no stopping it now. 

but I also agree, Hazing (extreme hazing) has no place...it is emotionally and can be physically damaging to people...if you want to get a new kid drunk and have him puke all over the front lawn or wear a unicorn costume or something...yeah whatever, but sticking brooms in peoples assess or jerking them off in front of other team mates...not cool in my opinion.

See the letter posted below the main tweet, by itself it doesn't mean much I think its interesting the guy 'went there' on twitter calling out who he thinks is driving the heaviest accusations, and I can't tell if he's claiming they were embellished / fabricated claims or he believes them to be but sure sounds like he's saying that the whole point was just to get coach fired .. looking at the situation so far w only Fitz being fired I have to say that does kinda ring true .. so yeah its not quite interesting yet but maybe 'about to get interesting' .. 

Not saying he's to be believed and frankly he shoulda called an attorney before he posted the letter because it seems a wee bit dangerous .. but janitor in the B-Fast Club said it best 'I am the eyes and ears of this institution my friends' and I think equip manager woulda been pretty close to the action and no longer there so he feels free to say what's on his mind .. sure doesn't sound like he has ANY IDEA what in the world the (no longer) anon accuser or any of his anon corroborators are talking about .. maybe nothing maybe something, we'll see ..

And after further evaluation need to amend my statement in post #1 on the timelyness. Seems the University dragged it's feet a bit. Complaint was reported to be made last Nov 30th and that seems timely. Way too long of an investigation. And we are hearing many players who say they never were contacted or interviewed. Hmmm. 

So yes, there was locker room games being played. Freshman were targeted. Seems the entire team except a few participated. Happened in certian situations it appears, off campus, Thanksgiving and Christmas. And yes, there was a sexual nature to them. Who woulda thought, 18-24 yr old men adding a sexual nature.

If it was me as a team member who was against this behavior my first stop would be my position coach. If he didn't follow through on to my head coach. If he didn't follow through, then to the compliance department. What I see here is the coaching staff bypassed. That right there questions the motive of the complainer. Why didn't you go to coach with this? If you did and coach ignored it or worse punished you the coach would definitely be fired and you would be looking at lawsuit city. But the complainer apparently didn't, he bypassed the staff and probably said he feared for his safety bullcrap. That's why I created the thread.

This kinda stuff always seems to run off the rails. "Hazing was rampant at NW!! Uh, I read pre-season, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Is that rampant?? "They were sexually abused with immoral acts." Really, in todays world??

 Yeah, they really botched this up. It's like they investigated ONLY if coach knew or should have known, waited for the deadest moment, announced a two week suspension and changes and hoped it would just quickly fade away. University paper gets a hold of it, writes scathing articles quoting complainer and university freaks out, suddenly fires coach on zoom call. 

Meanwhile, for those who commited the supposed immoral sexual acts.......

You ask rhetorically, "Why didn't he go to his position coach?"  ...one answer "retribution" ...Especially a vulnerable freshman...No one wants to lose their scholarship (not for coming forward, but other very "subjective" performance factors) and no wants to be accused of being a "rat".   I don't buy that these assistants and HC Fitz had no idea what was going on...Immature student athletes talk, and I find it hard to believe that no one talked to a peer, a roommates, a friend or a relative....Again, its about institutional control...or in this case, the lack thereof...I agree the sexual aspect of this hazing, makes this scandal completely unacceptable in the eyes of the public...Just dumb for prima facie are a group of intelligent student athletes...And it appears that NW made an example out of Fitz, because he was ultimately responsible...I think a fully independent investigation (not the sham authorized by NW) be conducted to know identify who knew what and when...Put them under oath...give them a lie detector test, use prisoners dilemma against them...Any assistant who knew or should have known, should be fired with cause...I hope NW loses every game by 50+...

Story was a few days old I figured Rittenberger was just regurging the same stuff the NU paper was so didn't bother reading it .. wouldn't guessed from his headline that cleverly buried in the middle is a total denial of the NU paper story from a current player and he also says the accuser discussed his plot to take down Fitz with him .. and read the accusers quotes in this story, you tell me this dude doesn't have a terminal case of Fitz Derangement Syndrome ..

"The truth is none of that stuff happened in our locker room."

The current player said the former player told him he would go public with detailed allegations if the university's investigation did not result in Fitzgerald's dismissal and referenced the 2021 situation involving athletic director Mike Polisky, who stepped down amid media and public pressure nine days after being promoted. Polisky had been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by a former Northwestern cheerleader.

"He was thinking he could do the same with Coach Fitz, if he went to The Daily Northwestern and went public with it," the current player said.

Told of the current player's account, the former player said he wanted to "absolutely seek action to get Fitz out of the program" but that he had other objectives.

"I want to shed light on this heinous, illegal behavior," the former player said. "I wanted illegal behavior out of the program. This is an absolutely barbaric and egregious culture that ultimately lies on the shoulders of the head coach."

Yeah there is something not quite right here .. 

The former player sent ESPN a photo of a whiteboard, headlined "SHREK'S LIST" and listing the names of players, as well as bulleted items that included "naked slingshot," "naked bear crawls," "naked [center-quarterback] exchange" and "naked pass rush."

"That was in the middle of the locker room for all eyes to see throughout my entire time in the program," the former player said. "I will say with 100% certainty that every single individual who has ever come in this program between 2020 and now has seen [the whiteboard]. Every single player in this program from 2020 to 2023 knows what Shrek is and knows about the hazing that occurs."

The current Northwestern player told ESPN that he never heard of "Shrek's list" and had never seen the whiteboard in the locker room. He added that Fitzgerald stays out of the locker room, telling players it belongs to them... 

The former player also said Northwestern's assistant coaches were negligent about the hazing. He said he witnessed several instances in which his position coach was asked about "Shrek," only for the coach to "put his hands up in the air and say, 'Stop talking. I don't want to know anything about it.'"

The current player, who shared the same position room as the former player, said "Shrek" never came up in meetings.

I don't know...I guess that depends on the investigation...It does not sound like there was one key predator like Sandusky...But, would I be correct to assume that there may be victims of aggravated sexual assault out there who had come through the NW football program over the last 10 years...@25 per year X 10 years...250 student athletes...I guess my question is...will there be criminal charges filed...and if NW's lack of institutional control in protecting vulnerable players, will there be lawsuits against the school for quasi fostering this type of environment...

Its just so disgusting...Was it simply a case of playing "Grab Ass" or "Smear the Queer" (when Queer meant strange/peculiar), like everyone did on the playground back in the 1970s and before or was there some nefarious sexual abuse and humiliation going on here?   

After 10 or so years, WE ARE Penn State seems to have made a full recovery..I guess we will see...

Looking at some of the quotes in the article I posted it wouldn't surprise me if this was a whole lot closer to grab ass towel smacking locker room antics than the story being told by, I think, clearly someone with a major gripe against Fitz .. He only mentions Fitz in the articles doesn't have the slightest care in the world what happens to the actual supposed perps.. and like c'mon if his story is the real story then you have a legit locker room right now filled with abusers and victims and none of them are going along w the story, at least not that I've seen ..... its all in the retelling and anon accuser had an open mic night on his former coach unchallenged by anyone .. everyone who has put their name out there seems to not be going along w it .. just saying im very very skeptical ..

Northwestern Baseball coach gone now too. On the football story, I heard that the player count for the NW football hazing story was up to 11 former players that confirmed this $hit went on, so it is not just the one player that came forth first. Sounds like a legit case of lack of institutional control.

How about other time limits like the Italian it's not sexual assault if it's under 10 seconds? BTW NM St. lately agreed to pay out 8 mil to 2 whiny azzes who not only got their BB coach fired, the last 6 games weren't played. The cops were called but no one arrested, so it must be overblown nothingburger?

Let me get this straight, in November last yr a NM St BB player gets in a shootout with another student from a rival school. The player wounded and the student dead. Other players and two assistant coaches take the murder weapon (gun) from the wounded player, get on a bus and leave before police get there. Police had to pursue the bus, stop it on it's way back to campus to get the gun. New Mexico ST then continues on with it's season. In February two players file a complaint with campus police that they were being spanked and had their scrotums twisted and the whole program is immediatley shutdown.

So, kill someone, have the team and assistant coaches wisk away the gun.......OK.

Slap asses and twist scrotums, shut it all down.

I of course do not condone twisting or handling scrotums or slapping asses. But it sure seems like priorities are a bit twisted too.

And that settlement was taxpayer money.
