There is zero chance (I repeat... z-e-r-o chance) that Mark Richt is on
the hot seat at any time soon. Even with a poor season this year, Mark Richt has created "glory years" at Georgia that have surpassed those of the 1980's. There has been no national championship (yet), but the program has been consistently better year in and year out than it's ever been before.
Not only that, but Richt has built up a massive amount of "political capital" in Athens because he's a good guy who does things the right way. He's not only respected by the Bulldog Nation, he's loved by many. It will take more than 1 bad year to erase all of that.
Willie Martinez is another story... it won't take much to toss him out on his ass. It's important to note, though, that the defense saved Georgia in this game on multiple occasions. (One possession started inside the 20 and resulted in a FG, and another short-field possession resulted in no points at all.) The culprit in the Ok. St. game was Georgia's offense.
Give the 'Pokes their due, too... they played well, and were just the better team on the field yesterday.

Ummm...how bout the 8 arrests last year? being the most penalized team in the nation? could some of the many injuries be a result of slack offseason conditioning too ? political capital aside...the powers that be do not like mediocre performance and all the off field publicity. He and his crew have not done a great job lately imo. GT game second half =terrible coaching/lack of adjustments. pitiful. gonna be a long season. Our veteran OL got manhandled. After first drive- squat. pitiful. Bobo-????.

I've seen, in this and many other venues over the last 2 days, lots of overreaction to this one game. First of all, it's just one game, and contained 2 teams with some of the biggest questions of any top 20 teams. The teams will continue to change and (hopefully) improve after this game, and as the year goes on. The old saying goes that your team improves the most from game 1 to game 2, so we'll see how each team does in their next contest.
Invariably, a few very vocal Georgia fans are going super-negative, and understandably so. We're not used to seeing Georgia be the second-best team on the field... and it's not a bad thing when it upsets us so much. It's important to try to keep perspective, though.
Not to pick on you in particular, fts, but I think that our OL did not get manhandled during the game. If you go back and watch the game again, our pass blocking was very good, if not excellent. Joe Cox had more than 6 seconds to throw many times. The run blocking wasn't as good, but was generally very competent, though not dominating.
On the other side of the field, OSU's defense appears to be improved, but I don't think they'll go undefeated. Zac Robinson threw at least 3 INT's, and 1 that should have been a Pick-Six. The fact that our defense couldn't catch balls that hit their hands doesn't mean that Texas or Oklahoma's defenders won't be able to catch them, either.
At the beginning of the season, I thought we would go between 8-4 and 7-5, and I still think that. We'll see how it works out.
