I have no idea what to expect Thurs night. Oregon will win this game, but Cal will score points. Over is the play for sure. I can definately see Cal keeping it close, but I can also see an Oregon explosion against the young D. Last year, Cal had no offense once Riley went down and had to play to its defensive strength. This year, the D is young, but fast and probably more athletic.  Maynard is inconsistent, but he makes some great throws to Keenan Allen and Marvin Jones.  Cal will score 21 or more. I predict a  OR: 41 CAL: 27 kind of game.

Cal is ranked 9th in rushing defense. Oregon hasn't faced a team this season that can stop the run like these boys. They just James down last season, holding him to under 100 yards, and I feel like they will do it again this season. Oregon will pass enough, and run enough to keep balance and win the game. However, that TERRIBLE defense they have, (and keep in mind, they have played NO ONE, except LSU, and we see how that game went), will allow Cal and a QB who has been waiting for this game to keep it within the spread. Oregon has been penalized 29 times for 294 yards, and if you don't think that will not play a major role in this game, you are crazy. I love how Oregon comes out after getting dominated, and blows out a few nobody teams, and everyone is on the bandwagon. Cal is the big play here...

My bad... They did face a team with the ability to stop the rush this season... It was LSU, and they held James to 51 yards.

I agree if Oregon didn't have the hurry up offense they wouldn't be that great. Demoralization occurs to these young lads when Oregon Quacks Quacks get to running the muck on that ass, besides the hurry up what do they have, Cal not that great to brag on and I'm not this is a somewhat rivalry game. Cal just might pull out all the tricks with fake injuries, and some shit we probably haven't seen in years but is legal...GL to all especially ME..

Tappy - I agree. Cal isn't LSU, but they can score efficiently. That rushing D that they put out is very good, James is a beast, but he won't take the game over.

I'm just not seeing it in this Cal team.  A team that over last year and so far this season has not been strong on the road.  Playing against a team that plays very well at home.  Cal's d has been rocked by the two decent teams they have played in Washington and Colorado and calling Colorado decent is a stretch.  Couple this with Cal's difficulties scoring TD's in the redzone and what you have is a game where you are placing all of your faith in Cal's ability to shut down Oregon's offense enough to cover.  Could it happen sure....But I don't think it will. 58-23 sounds about right to me.

In 4 Oregon games this season, the game totals are 67, 89, 63 and 87
In 4 Cal games this season, the game totals are 57, 69, 75 and 54

This game just screams OVER, OVER, OVER 64.5

BUT

In last 14 Cal / Oregon match-ups, they've scored over 60 points only once (69 at Cal in 2006)

HOWEVER ...

Here's Oregon's team total for all HOME games last year and this year ...

2010 - 72, 69, 52, 60, 53, 48
2011 - 69, 56

OVER 64.5 is the play.
