You claim you are a VT fan but from your comments I believe you have never even followed the team. You say the defense will be putting in a lot of new guys but what you fail to mention is the fact that they wont be starting a single person who has been out of high school for less than 2 years. They will be an extremely mature defense who has learned behind a great squad for atleast 2 years. Lets start with the secondary where we return Carmichael and Morgan. Carmichael had 6 picks last year and is looking like a shut down corner. Morgan has tons of experience and big play potential out of the safety spot. Who is the question mark in the secondary? Jayron Hosley. He is easily the most explosive playmaker on defense. If he picks off a ball, it will go back for 6 points. Eddie Whitley will be playing the other safety and looked awesome in the spring to build on playing in every single game last season....

At LB we bring back Barquell Rivers who nearly had a hundred tackles and fits the Hokie mold of middle linebacker. He is coming off an injury but should be 100% to start practicing come August. At the whip position we bring back Lyndell Gibson who earned a starting spot for the last 5 games of last season as a freshman. Reminds me a lot of Rey Mauluga. Not sure if Alonzo Tweedy is slotted to start YET but he will eventually and love his upside.
Overall I would say our weakest position heading into the season.

At DL we return starting tackle John Graves. He should be a beast once again and it will be his year to shine. This is now his 3rd year as a starting DL and Foster will have him ready to whip some ass. Starting beside him is Antoine Hopkins who has more potential than anyone on that DL. Both ends, Friday and Drager, have loads of experience and have patiently waited for their turn to start. Friday will surprise everyone and be the best defensive player we have and a serious threat as an All-ACC 1st team DE. He has gotten so disruptive and almost unblockable lately. Love what he is going to do off the edge. Not exactly thrilled with what Drager brings to the table, but he plays hard....

Overall this defense does not lack experience. These guys all played in almost every game last season and have learned from some of the best in CFB. Friday will be a monster and give Boise all kinds of threats. The secondary will be SOLID and Boise will not be able to throw all over them. Will Boise put up points? Probably. Will they win this game by 10-17? Probably not. Underestimating this defense and that being your reason for liking Boise will be a big mistake.

I wont even get into the fact Tyrod had the highest passing efficiency in the ACC and Moore throws against the WAC because comparing these QB's is just stupid. Whenever Moore played legite competition he had average numbers at best. Prove it to me in a big game Kellen.

VT has a mediocre line? Last time I checked they were running all over everyone and bring back 3 out of the starting 5. So not sure where they lost a lot of guys but if you consider 2 then youre on the ball.

These 2 schools Boise St and Va Tech, are 2 of the most prolific schools of the last decade in terms of betting ticket success.  2009 started with Boise St shutting down Oregon.  Va Tech went 1-1 as an UD last season beating UMiami and losing to the National Champion Bama. Boise was UD only once last season when they beat a very good TCU team in the Fiesta Bowl.  Stability wise both teams are loaded except for the new OC for Boise.  Should be a good game, and this being Boise's entire season ridding on this one, as it was last year with Oregon, I may not bet on them, but def wont bet aginst them.

If they run the table this year AGAIN, they play in the NC game.

I will be rooting for VT.  You seem to like that offensive line more than I do.  If VT can run the ball well, then it could be a long night for Boise St.  Either way I hope it is a good game to start the season. 

Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on Tyrod, but I just have never been the biggest fan of his.  But he has taken them to the Orange Bowl and the Chic Fil A Bowl. 

Ryan Williams might be the best player I have seen on VT since Michael Vick, but it's still early with him.  I hope Darren Evans comes back well.  I like the way he runs.

I got to give Boise credit as I always do, as they prepare and beat quality teams.

One lesson I learned in capping is regardless of win or loss when a team plays a tough physical match up it will affect their game the following week. 

It just pisses me off that after V tech the Broncos get a buy, followed by a tune up before Oregon St., then are on cruise control until November.

1 game doesn't make a season, even the KC Royals beat the Yankees every year.  The WAC is wack, even Hawaii went undefeated in '07.

Sorry to see Utah go Pac 10 as the MWC has more challenges for Boise than the WAC.... BYU and TCU

Much respect to Boise, its not there fault about the schedule or lack of quality football in the WAC.  If anything they are raising the bar and should show recruits there is quality football outside the BCS conferences.

Boise St's run at the title starts with the most important game of the season vs V Tech in week 1. This game is a huge statement game for Boise & will show the rest of nation whether they are the caliber team the have shown to be in the past with a win vs V Tech. I like Boise St in this game, Go Blue Smurfs!

Voters will have some explaining to do if 5th pre-season ranked team goes undefeated and all Top 4 lose a game along the way, which should happen to AL, OSU, FL and TX.

They have earn the rt given how they've done 2 of past 3 yrs.  A team that finished 4th the prev yr, return 22 of 24 starters and goes undefeated deserve a shot.

I think this VTech squad is tired of the BSU chatter .  I understand why BSU is the fave (very good team, incredibly well coached...most importantly, the masses/public love them), but I can't give a shit.  They're traveling a long way to a hostile environment.  How many times have we seen this type of scenario!?!?
