Not sure if you are completely against any type of playoff or if the hybrid would work in your mind. I think the hybrid could keep people happy while still having enough controversy to make things interesting.
In my opinion, a plus one or 4 team playoff wouldn't change much, and the atmosphere for each game would be electric (if they had home games until final). Anything more then 4, and I think the regular season intensity would take a hit. Plus, this is football, not basketball. Adding an 8 team playoff would be a hell of a lot more to ask for from some college students when you take in the injuries that occur every game. Either way, I don't see things changing anytime soon, and I am fine with that as well. ROLL TIDE!!!

More SEC bias! You think Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina are anything fucking special you're nuts. College football is a parity ridden as it's ever been. Since the SEC has been the class of college football for 3-5 years now, everyone thinks the best teams reside there. I'm sorry, I'm just not buying it. Not this year anyway. Outside of an undefeated Auburn or Bama running the table (neither of which will happen), the SEC doesn't deserve a place in the NC game this year.

could be argued sizzle,,in 08 Texas should have been there over OKL,,they beat OU when the were ranked #1. Also ask an unbeaten 13-0 Auburn team about it in 2004.

Not saying I'm completely right or your wrong sizzle, all I'm saying is that it could be done and keep the bowls in place also, and we would have a true Natl Champ.
Say you keep the bowls,,you need 4 bowls for Rd1,,2 bowls for Rd2,,and One bowl for the Champ.
take the top 7 bowls,,and rotate the games every year,so one year say the final game is at the Orange Bowl, the next yr,the Rose bowl, the next the Sugar and so on. by rotating the way the games are played in those bowls, every year fans from different areas would see #1 playing #8 etc etc.and every yr the final game would be in a diff location on a 7year cycle since there would be 7 games. It can be done ,there could be plenty og time to make travel plans and hotel plans etc. if we cut out a game, and maybe the bye weeks.
The fan interest would be there to get a playoff to find a final winner, the bowls would still be there for the NCAA to rake in that money also, and the TV ratings I think would be much higher for those bowls, knowing that the winner would move onto another bowl. Its just one way of getting a final Champion,I think the polls should be able to get at least the rightful champion if they got to pick the top 8 teams for a playoff.

Dude.... Florida and S.Carolina have very good defenses and are well coached. Arkansa, Florida, Alabama, LSU, S.Carolina and Auburn would beat Michigan State. Why are so many SEC teams teams are ranked? Why is SEC 6-0 in Championship games?
