This is the same thing that people said two years ago when Duke lost to VCU. Granted, this year's UCLA team is better than that Duke team, but also, this VCU team is much better as well.
I agree with a lot of the points made here, and if UCLA can figure a way to shut down Maynor, then I look for UCLA to win. However, I don't think it's that easy. You don't think EVERY team focuses on shutting down Maynor? Yet, he still averages 23+ ppg. Yes, I know, he's not facing the same competition...but he still held his own against the non-coference competition of Oklahoma, Rhode Island, and Akron.
I got the line at 10.5 and was shocked when I saw it. No way VCU loses by that much. VCU lost to Oklahoma by 11 AT Oklahoma. That was their largest defeat of the season. UCLA has beaten some teams pretty badly, but none to the caliber of VCU.
Larry Sanders has been a beast in recent weeks. He's stayed out of foul trouble and continues to produce.
And most importantly, I hear everyone talking about Ben Howland and how he is a great defensive coach. Did you forget about Anthony Grant? He is the next big thing in coaching.
To all Pac-10 fans, because I don't know the answer to this, but how did UCLA play against teams that had a full-court pressure?
Anyways, I already put 10 units on VCU and waiting to put 5 units on the money line.
When in doubt, go with the best player on the court: Eric Maynor.

And now for the rest of the story;
All of the games that youy noted were played before Christmas in his freshman year.Since then he has been a MONSTER.
The Citadel Nov.16 - Yes he only had 1 rebound but he also had 3 blocks and it was his first college game. The Rams won the game.
Rhode Island Nov.22 - OK so he only had 3 rebounds in his third game, but he also had 6 points and he only played 7 minutes.
Richmond Dec.13 - He had 4 rebounds,7 points, and 2 blocks in the win and he only played 22 minutes.
Akron Dec.17 - He had 2 rebounds,2 blocks, and 3 points and played 14 minutes as the Rams won.
Oklahoma Dec.20 - Wow,he had 4 rebounds,3 blocks,1 assist,and 16 points at Lloyd Nobles.![]()
I can pull selective stats on Aboya as well, let's take a look.at a few of his performances.
Michigan - 3 rebounds as Bruins lose
Arizona State - 2 rebounds as Bruins lose.
USC - 2 rebounds
Florida International - 2 rebounds
Washington State - 1 rebound as Bruins lose.
And one thing that U.C.L.A. sorely lacks is a shot blocker. In fact a freshman guard leads the team in blocks with 18.
Meanwhile Larry Sanders had 88 blocks and Pishchalnikov had 24.And speaking of Delaware even they had a forward with 52 blocks.
Kap - I enjoy reading your posts but I had to present the other side on this one ![]()

Good
points made and I was on vcu against duke 2 years ago but times are different
have a couple thoughts bout this game
Who
stops ship??
If u
are worried bout the press I? don’t
u think ucla is well prepared for the press. If u ever watches basketball the
press doesn’t effect ucla like it will against other teams vcu played. Who takes
the ball up for ucla ? collison and holiday. Regardless of what u think hasn’t collision
played against pro level guards since he was a frosh let alone his speed maynor
going to catch him with his pf flyers
Dravoic going to be raining threes when collison drives and kicks I believe everyone looks for upsets in the tourney and yes they are bound to happen but look at the numbers and what u see and what u read make ure decision that way not what ure brackets read its another game and im from the nova area the winner o this game goes on nova is a weird team to grasp and Scottie isn’t playing well also both teams match up against cunniham
